I've been stuck on this exercise and I can't seem to apply the worded problems to the formula. Maybe it's because I don't understand the formula itself.

Here's a question from the text book:

If the probability of a female child being born is 0.48, find the probability that a family with exactly three children has at least one child of each sex.

Help is greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

At least one of each means 2 boys and one girl or 2 girls and one boy.

Pr(GGB) = 3C2 X 0.48^2 X 0.52 = 0.359424
Pr(GBB) = 3C1 X 0.48 X 0.52^2 = 0.389376

Prob required is the sum = 0.7488
