Timetabling!

Alright it looks like ive got 2 tutes, 2 labs, 8 lectures to work with....

What do people recommend?
Avoid 3 lectures in a row?
Are there combinations that should be avoided? (like a tute, lab then tute)

Just general things I should take note of when it comes to organising my timetable

Umm... I advise against any more than 3 straight hours of lectures in a row... even that can be pushing it, depending on how difficult the material is.

Don't leave really long breaks between classes either, you tend to end up wasting that time (even if you resolve to use it to study, it ain't gonna happen :P).

Don't start your days too early unless you're really a morning person, because as semester progresses you will be more and more tempted to sleep in and miss the classes (since nobody gives a damn if you rock up or not)

Try not to have too many different subjects in one day or you'll have to lug lots of different books (+ laptop if applicable) around, which really sucks after awhile

Arvo classes are always far more popular than morning classes.

A question of my own: is it unwise to timetable one activity immediately following another or is this what people normally do? It just seems like if I have a law lecture ending at 12, followed by a French tutorial starting at 12, I'll always miss the first 5 minutes of the tutorial getting from A to B.

No, classes always start 5 mins after and finish 5 mins beforehand for this very reason

In easier-to-understand language: you'll always have about 10mins between back-to-back classes.
