should I select unit 1 philosophy

I go to a catholic school, and in yr11 we must do some kind of VCE religion, that is:
1. religion and society u2 (as we all did unit1 this year in yr10)
2. religion and society u3/4 (as an accelerated)
3. or philosophy u1
I think that philosophy would be very interesting, and I have done some extension programs on it in previous years, however, would it be more work?
Next year I am planning on doing VCE English, Maths Methods, General Maths, Bio, Chem, and Psych (3/4).
Does philosophy require a lot of work? I'd only be doing Unit1 next year but I'm worried it might take some of my focus away from other subjects.
