Hi, I was just wondering when and how I can change my uni preferences? I've tried logging into the VTAC website but all it does is redirect me to my atar results page. Thanks.
It seems like the page is overloaded at the moment, lots of people are having trouble getting in - try it again tomorrow and you should be able to do it. You have a few days before change of preferences closes (someone else can probably give you the exact date) so don't worry about it just yet!

Everyone's having the same issue (see here). Have a little patience and you'll be able to change yours soon too. Preferences aren't due until Wednesday 19th, so you've got time.

As for how to change them, there's a good thread from 2016 by Aaron that will still be applicable. That should help for the most part. If not, post again on this thread for more specific guidance. :)

if you do a course first year (say optometry) and do ucat during that year and want to transfer to med
do they base whether you get in or not using atar or how you did in the first course

Generally (and please double check this yourself), it's just how you fared in your first course (optometry in your example) after a year (or more) of uni study.

Is there even any chance of me getting a Vice-chancellor offer for Monash. I was 0.1 off. I would imagine they would be strict so I'm not really expecting a yes for this answer. Thank you x
It depends on the amount of scholarships they have (130 for Year 12s), the disadvantage(s) you faced e.g. financial, medical, etc. and the amount of people who just generally fit the criteria and accept the scholarship. So... chances are very unlikely, as you can expect, but possible in a rare coincidence.

Side note: Monash and Centrelink pair up to provide most disadvantaged students with the UniStart Support Scholarship, if all else fails. If you are at all disadvantaged, you'll at least receive this one. :)
Do all scholarship offers come out today?
A few. Unis can only contact so many people in one day and confirm things on their end, so expect scholarships to take a while (so up until course offers come out). Some of the smaller scholarships e.g. UniStart come up in like March/April once you start uni as well.

Hi I am just wondering what is the chance of getting into biomedicine in Melb uni with an ATAR of 96.15?
According to this, very high. Guaranteed if you were accepted into the Access Melbourne program.

From here:
For Ammeamme
What are my chances of getting into Melb Uni biomed with an atar of 92? (minimum atar is 95)
I'm ineligible for Access Melb but I did apply for SEAS category 1 and received the Monash Guarantee, which means I may still get SEAS points.
Chances look okay. You might still qualify for some subject bonuses. I haven't been able to find any so far, but that's just because I'm wrapped up here on AN and haven't had a moment. I'd check to see if that lifts your aggregate and therefore your ATAR to the 95 minimum. (Read up on subject bonuses on my previous posts in this thread.) Remember 95 is the clearly-in for first year uni 2018. It might change a little in 2019 due to demand and spots available.

Should I change my first preference from biomed to science so that I can receive a definite first round offer (minimum atar for science is 85), accept it and then place biomed as my first pref to see if I get a second round offer? Or should I keep biomed as my first pref from the outset? I just don't want to deal with the anxiety of not getting a first round offer  :(
Well, if you ultimately want to study Biomed at UoM, then keep that in Preference #1 no matter your ATAR. There's a rare, but possible chance if you leave it there that you'll get that offer. After that, it depends on what you like best and think is best for yourself. Are you dead set on studying Biomed, studying at UoM or something else more?

EDIT: Never mind. Got answered on original thread.

Thank you so much for replying!!

Sorry but can you please explain the access Melbourne program?

And doesn’t the clearly in rank changes every year? Before 2016 wasn’t it like 98 or even higher?

Over the years melbourne has been taking more and more people in for Biomed so naturally the cut off has been lowered. I would expect it to be the same or even lower this year. You have a great chance :)

Access Melbourne provides a guarantee of an offer if you qualify for SEAS and achieve the minimum ATAR
