waaaait. i'm in a similar situation - should i enrol in uts and wait until january to see if i get unsw? then just withdraw? very confused because i called uac last week and they said to accept the offer then leave it

Enrol in UTS to secure a spot just in case you don't get UNSW. If you get UNSW in Jan then withdraw from UTS

---

Got my 1st preference offer of Bachelor of Arts and advanced studies at USyd but still not 100% on Wheather it's the right choice, so I'm currently enrolled in both western Syd and USyd. Just gotta make up my mind and withdraw before Uni starts.
HSC 2017: Advanced English [85] General Maths [92] Biology [96] Geography [92] Drama [86]

2018: Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Studies at University of Sydney

-- need a tutor for any of the subjects listed above?? I reckon I'm the girl! Just message me on ATAR notes or here--

Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) (technically I got this offer ages ago and didn’t get it via UAC as AFTRS is a private college)

Congrats to everyone who got their offers today!! And good luck to those who are still waiting for the January offers ;D

Yep, do exactly what UAC says. Accept the offer, then delete it from your preference list, see if you get into UNSW and if you do then withdraw from UTS and enrol in UNSW :)

Hey guys, just a quick question! So I've received an offer for UTS Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) Bachelor of Arts in International Studies. However, while this course is great, I am also looking at maybe doing normal
Journalism at UTS given it is two years less of study. Also, given that these courses are hovering around ATARs of 82-85, I was hoping I may gain a scholarship and hence was also waiting for responses from UNSW and possibly Sydney Uni. My other preference is for uni of Canberra where I have a $5000 scholarship but the sports media course, while great, is too specific and also I would want lots of money if I moved to Canberra given the cost involved. So hopefully you understand my situation now! Should I keep waiting for more offers? Thanks :)

Really personal choice there, but in general make sure you accept an offer today to secure a place somewhere and then wait and see what else comes your way. Whether you accept those offers is then your call ;D

I'd enrol in the International Studies and then re-assess if you want to keep it or not in your second year! I say this because it is exactly what I did. You don't study any International Studies subjects in your first year so you don't pay extra fees to be enrolled in it. I decided to drop it in my second year before I had to pay for it and I went one exchange instead. UTS offers hardly any scholarships for Comms, though. In fact, none for Comms directly, you'd need to be a candidate for a different kind of scholarship. So if that's what you're hoping for, I'd hold on and see what else you're offered.

I personally would pursue the UTS course over the Canberra course for variation and for cost reasons. You can always enhance your sports journalism specialty through internships, freelancing (which you already do!), and part time work in the field.

G'day and congrats to those who've received their offers.

I have a question: Is there any real benefit to doing a double degree. I got accepted into commerce and i'm regretting not pairing it up with another degree for extra employability.

Actually, I have a question of my own.

So I’ve already enrolled into my course, timetable, applied for my ID card etc. but if I changed my preference and put it second and put UTS first, would it muck it all up?

Have no intentions to go to uts as I fell inlove with macquarie’s Campus and it’s stupid but uts’ really turned me off. Just wanna see if I could’ve got an offer

It's breadth versus specialisation I guess - You'll almost definitely be able to do more in depth study of your Commerce program than someone doing it in a double, and you'll also graduate sooner. So when you are 25, this will give you one year of experience over another person graduating with you this year. Often, work experience trumps education in a lot of ways - So it's a toss up! ;D definitely no right versus wrong!

You can go for an offer if you want to! Definitely won't muck things up with Macquarie ;D

Thanks Elyse :) Also, just with the exchange you did - did you get a grant or help from the uni paying for it and how did you include it within your course?
I may have asked before but I've forgotten your answer. Thanks so much :)
