Hiiiiiiii

I just missed the A+ cutoff for my GA1 in eng lang and lit so now I'm not sure if I can still get a study score above 40, let alone 45  :-\. If I'm sitting on the highest possible A for my GA1 in both subjects but get reaaallyyy high A+s for my GA2 and GA3, can I still get above 40? Thank you for answering btw  :D

How do you know what you are going to get for GA1? All internal SAC grades are moderated by VCAA. Even if you do get an A for GA1 you can easily get above 40.

I was going off of the grade cutoffs from last year. I'm not sure if my SACs will get moderated upwards; my cohort is moderate with the top end being super strong. I'm rank three so idk what's gonna happen  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ thank you for the answer btw!

Totally still possible! I did the same score comparisons last year for my subjects, and I was in the exact same situation for physics (I was literally 1 point off the A+ cutoff for both units 3 and 4). Long story short, they will scale based on how your school performs on the exam, so if you and your classmates are (or at least the top end) are performing well, it'll all work out. Just for a concrete example, I thought I totally stuffed the physics exam, as there were a lot of things I definitely stuffed up, but I ended up with 41 SS and A+ for everything( even though I was 1 point off A+ cutoff from previous year for GA1 and GA2). Also, this was still possible with someone who was ranked above me having a bad(ish) exam day (they ended up with 40). BTW, I don't know my exact ranking (probably at minimum 5th or 6th, best case scenario maybe 4th), but I ended up with 4th highest score. And this was in your average local public school, but like your situation, there were some really smart people.

So moral of the story, don't stress and spend too much time worrying about that sort of stuff, and consistent hard work almost always pays off :) Good luck!

Your SAC scores can get changed  a lot from your exam, I probably averaged high 80s in my SACs (for both units) last year but ended up getting A+ for GA1 and 2

Thanks miniturtle ! When you say "from your exams" do you mean that performing very well individually on the exam can moderate your SAC scores up, or do you mean the entire cohort? If the latter is the case, how strong was your cohort in the exam? And also, how well did you go in englang last year and what did you have to do to get your score? Thank you for help !!  :D

It depends on your SAC ranking relative to the exam scores. VCAA changes your SAC scores so that the highest exam score matches the highest SAC score, the top 25% of scores in the exam matches the top 25% of scores in the SACs etc.  I did biology last year as a head-start subject (which is what my example was of), I'm currently studying eng Lang. For biology I was rank 1 and I got the highest exam score so I determined my marks.
