just study maths and numerical i guess and just stay up to level with your science. Just look back to the first few pages of the forum if you have any questions or need to know what to do.

The test? That’s 2 months ago. We should be discussing the interview right now.
Alright, wish me luck (test is in a few days). So far I’ve gone through 6 completions of the year 9 and 10 science textbooks, did the entire year 10 math textbook twice and have done a lot and a lot of practice tests. So much has happened over the past year and I find it quite unbelievable that I have studied so much. I wouldn’t of even moved a muscle if it weren’t for AN ppl though, so thank you. Thanks for the motivation, thanks for the tips and basically thanks for everything.  :D

For those reading in the future, I’ll tell you what I did for prep. For the first 6 months of the year of prep, I aimed to learn the entire year 10/9 science and math content, taking it easy and slow. I was not working on speed at this point, instead I was working on knowledge. For the next 6 months I redid the textbooks, at a faster pace, to retain the information and also did practice tests. I did many practice tests from EduKingdom and JAC but also did some online. Each day I aimed to do at least 5 hours, which now I think about it, is crazy, but I was so wrapped up in determination I didn’t care.

Anyways, it getting late. I’ll tell you guys if I made it or not in a few months time.

Thanks you,
I remembered this again, wish you good luck.

The disadvantage I have: 💩certificates,💩💩 reports, 💩 mouth
The advantage I have: 6 places available for my school, 3 people joining the interview.
Upward and outward, no matter the cost.

IMO? International Mathematics Olympiad? That requires lot of ability to get in! I only planned to join AIMO on September 12th, and it is still very challenging!
Talking about inspirations, or about the school curriculum? I already planned to do that... however somebody says “do not try to overly impressive” so I guess I will discard the fancy sentences I take notes on the information night...
That's true. Actually, I am planning on competing in the IMO too if I get into JMSS, becos I got like High Distinctions for like the ICAS exams and once a High Distinction for the Australian Mathematics Competition. The thing is idek how to join the IMO LOL  ::).

Synx, I feel like you are overly practical, (assembling an RC plane and wanting to construct  a bloody  fusion reaction required extreme science ability) and I feel like I am overly theoretical. We would be a remarkable pair of scientists if we get in.  8) 8) 8)

I can barely do AIMO (once I solve these difficulty of math problems every day back in China). And I’m not too practical though as these ambitious projects (such as the fusion thing)  are just on paper 🧻 and theoretical calculations. And I never got a chance to systematically learn how to make projects, I learn them on my own and I’m not very well. So for the most time I just do theoretical things just like you, and seems you did better (although I’m still ahead of standard curriculum)! I would like to learn year 12 math and science just like you, but my curiosity have not be satisfied since I don’t find a complete book for it. :-[
With superior achievements for AMO and ICAS as well as super intelligence, no doubt you’ll get in. I have nothing to pick up my sleeves, no certificates, no great reports. If I got in, I guess I can recognize you by looking for the person with best academic abilities...
To be a real scientist, I think we need a PhD or something, and do research and contribute... that’ll be more than 10 years later. Let’s not consider this before we get in.

What would you guys recommend wearing to the interviews? School Uniform or casual? If casual is better, what type of clothes?
@Dphammy:P, what did you wear to the interviews?
Hey Rohan still remember you lol. Depends on the day and time. I wore school clothes cos I was gonna go to school right after. If it is on a weekend, obviously don’t wear school uniform.

mine is on Monday 2:49 PM, because it's a long way to get there. I think I will not go to school that day so I can have more sleep and more preparation. but,  seems a uniform works better than casual in an interview.

Ur just underestimating urself trust me, u will by no doubt get in. Furthermore, u have assembled an RC plane - that is not on paper. One more thing, do not forget as I say it another time, certificated DO NOT matter as much in the interviews as long as you show passion for science as well as good socialising. Here is the part I feel is the hardest for me, and probs for you as well.

When I say "assemble" it means assembling using a whole set of components, not starting from scratch. I heard somebody did far better at my interview training-he DIY a 3D printer and programmed it!
Still, I really thank you, I knew I have real passion in science and maths so do you, but their are some issues still, that I cannot work out the problem, or the riddles they had given (such as the bridge one)within 30 seconds and without paper. you would certainly do better than processing with your brain. man i'm really stressful, as I will be frustrated if I don't get in. the year 10 electives and reports will matter to VCE or ATAR, and in my current school their isn't enough science or math for me (i'm confused more with the formats instead of knowledge), and there are almost no electives that really suit me, but in JMSS, tons!

damn i do none of that lol. probably the only thing ive done of that caliber is view saturn and jupiter from my telescope for the first time. tho im hoping to memorise some star charts too before the interview to further increase my knowledge.

Dude I had a 76mm $90 telescope 🔭 as well, it does not work well and impossible to calibrate due to the fact that the secondary scope constantly shifts it’s position. So, for the most time I observe the moon and take some pictures.... never worked really well on other planets. Maybe I should show the moon pictures

That is still an amazing feat mate, no doubt. And there is no need to solve the problem even in the actual interview, as long as the student shows interpersonal skills. DW we will all be frustated if we don't get in (especially YOU!!). And btw, I think I know that guy who can do a 3D printer programming, cos a guy at my school can do the exact same thing. Either way, that person is amazing at practicals like u, but luckily, less smarter than me at theoretical. That is probably the only reason why I got in. See what I mean, the school I go to is EXTREMELY competitive and there aren't much chances, yet I will strive to excelsior, to beyond  ;)

🙏 thanks for your cheering! Hope we can all get in! I don’t think I will be that frustrated, as Kerbal Space Program told me to keep calm when crashing a spacecraft.
Come on! It’s not rocket science how hard can rocket science be?
