Hey, tay.j!

So, one of the prescribed for AoS is a memoir (I had to study it), the Motorcycle Diaries, so you could definitely use a memoir as a related text. It's generally pretty difficult to analyse, but if you would like to explore a memoir, you could try Letters from the Lost: A Memoir of Discovery. I haven't read it myself, but it looks very promising!

If it's not for Area of Study, I'll assume it's for Module C in which case, are you doing Politics or Landscapes?

Hi...

The Happiest Refugee by Anh Do is a memoir, and I think I have heard of people using it successfully as a related... It just depends on what your prescribed text, and how well it can fit it...

Hey!
People have used memoirs before. I remember one guy in my school used Robert Oppenheimer's memoir 'American Prometheus.' My English teacher said this was a great text for AoS because Oppenheimer reflects on his scientific discovery in regards to the atomic bomb (since he was known as the father of the atomic bomb) and his regrets discovering the atomic bomb. I haven't read his memoir but I think it would be a great related text!

I've been reading a lot of memoirs lately and here's 3 I reckon you can check out and would work really well with discovery (I also enjoyed them imensley which is always a plus with related's)

1. So much I want to tell you - letters to my little sister by Anna Akana
2. Mao's last dancer by Li Cunxin
3. The happiest refugee by Anh Do
HSC 2017: Advanced English [85] General Maths [92] Biology [96] Geography [92] Drama [86]

2018: Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Studies at University of Sydney

-- need a tutor for any of the subjects listed above?? I reckon I'm the girl! Just message me on ATAR notes or here--

The Happiest Refugee is a good one!
You could speak about a lot of things which happen within it that are in relation to discovery.
The discoveries that are found in it can also be tailored to any type of discovery quite easily.
Anh moving across the ocean is that of a physical discovery.
Anh trying to find himself amidst a foreign nation is that of a transformative discovery as a result of self-reflection.
& so forth, hope this helps.  :)
