Transferring from Monash to Melbourne

Hi guys,

If I transfer from Monash B.Com to Melbourne after a semester, will I receive credit for all my units?

The unimelb website says, "The University of Melbourne supports the Credit Transfer Agreement signed by the Vice Chancellors of the Group of Eight (Go8) Australian universities."

Does this mean all units will be recognised or just some?

How difficult will it be to transfer from Monash to Melbourne during mid-year applications?

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to transfer to Melb?
I am assuming you are asking for next year? (since you are year 12 this year...)

I'm not 100% sure but my friend got an offer for B.Comm for UoM mid year and all the credit points for her units was transferred across.

You will need a 75% average for the transfer offer for mid year, and end of year.

Good luck!

It's more convenient and I like it there :)

Under normal circumstances, yes, credit will be awarded. Of course if you took some really weird units or something like that it might cause you an issue but i don't think you'll come up against one.

A midyear transfer is still weighted with your ATAR *and* your university scores, if your atar is significantly lower than the UoM one and your monash performance is so-so, your chances might not be exceptional, at least for a mid-year transfer. End of year is pretty much only assessed on uni marsks since they're a much better predictor of how well you do in uni than VCE marks are. I hear numbers anywhere from ~70-75. It honestly depends on demand, spots, etc.

Melb has a very flexible credit structure when it comes to transfers. I had 2 courses not recognised by melb that i studied at rmit - they simply credited as "breadths".

For first year, extremely. I entered UoM's BSc  through mid year entry in first year, and these are the minimum requirements I had to meet.

ATAR: 95.00

GPA: 80%

VCE Units 3/4 – a study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature or at least 30 in ESL, and at least 25 in Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics, and in one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics.#

They're quite inflexible as the spots are limited, and many students are looking to transfer after regretting their course choices. However, after midyear during first year (e.g. end of year) it is quite easy to transfer between universities and it is correct that the minimum to transfer to UoM is a GPA of 75% (though the minimum I've seen succeed is ~77, and his course seemed challenging).

Well I won't be needing to transfer :D :D

Thanks for the info though!

Hahaha I noticed! I congratulated you on some other now defunct thread. That was mainly for future students. DO NOT ACCEPT THE WRONG COURSE AND TAKE A MIDYEAR TRANSFER LIKE I DID, BABES.  :-[

I reserve my right not to answer on the grounds that Phy/pi/Captain_Physics/a delightful menagerie will swoop down with a 'pre-med' banner made of shredded GAMSAT practice papers and crown me princess of the pre-meds.
