The closest way from P to B is in a straight line (hence perpendicular) so

but

Since P lines on , then where q is a real constant.

so

expanding all that yields

solving for q yields

subbing this back in = = i+j

We can see that the graph has been transformed, (there has been dilations from the y axis and translations in the x axis.)

so we must find the new endpoints of the domain of the transformed graph

the domain of is [-1,1]

so for the transformed graph it will be

solve that and you get

mid point of that is 6. so sub 6 in the equation yields

so P(6,5)
