Doing industrial design at Monash, Caulfield?

I am eligible to get into Industrial design at Monash, Caulfield, except my parents are against the idea that you don't need an amazingly high score to get in.
I really want to do industrial design except I have no idea how to convice them. They think the lower the score, the less demand for industrial design, and therefore I would go hungry if I did industrial design as a career.
Can anyone tell me pros and cons about industrial design and tips on how to convince my parents?

Also I originally wanted to do Architecture but realised I liked Industrial design more, and parents dislike this choice- they'd rather architecture.
