Writing reports is a very outdated aspect of the course. In my opinion, it's really not up to the VCE to teach report writing, but to leave that for people who actually continue to do science in university.
Regardless of my views, you should follow the
scientific method:
1. Define the question
2. Gather information and resources (observe)
3. Form hypothesis
4. Perform experiment and collect data
5. Analyze data
6. Interpret data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis
7. Publish results (this part is your report)Using steps 1-6 as a model, your report should include the following headings (ones in bold are necessary):
Abstract
AimMaterials
MethodResultsHypothesisConclusionYour results part should be the bulk of your report, with a lot of calculations shown (error estimates), while you should discuss your results in depth in the Hypothesis section. (I might be wrong about the "Hypothesis" section)
