Who are these 'hidden' people? are they people who haven't signed up (guests)? or can one make his/her profile 'hidden'?

LOL I used to wonder that too, but never had the courage to make a thread about it!

Anyone can be hidden, change your options to hide your status by un-clicking show users your online status or somehting like that :)

wow... that's prety cool. I always wonder when I look at that thing how many of them are online reading the posts and how many have gone to another site and have just happened to leave this tab on taht thread. Thanks guys. I think I'll remain visible.
