I figured there are quite a few awesome resident-pianists around.. Anyone care to suggest some nice tracks? I'm trying to build up a collection to soothe my cravings for this great instrument that I missed out on learning when I was young and had the time.

Stuff by "Liszt"

Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody

I also like Chopin's Waltz.

Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto. And his Prelude in C# Minor.
Piano Thing by Muse (seriously, everyone look this up. It's not what you'd expect.)
+1 on the Debussy as well.
The best piano music in my opinion is from the late romantic period, but there's decent stuff all around if you look enough.

Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto.
I want to marry that piece of music. Or alternatively I'll settle for Rachmaninov. I don't care if he's dead (sorry marshmallow)

>.>
<.<

So ANYWAY necrophiliac tendencies aside ... depends on what kinda music you like!

Rachmaninov - 3rd piano concerto
Rachmaninov - Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini
Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue
Tchaikovsky - 1st piano concerto
Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings
Debussy - Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp
Liszt - La Campanella
Ravel - Piano Concerto
Ravel - Ondine from Gaspard de la Nuit

k too tired to think of any more atm

Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto. And his Prelude in C# Minor.

Wow I totally agree. Rachmaninoff is a gun. His 3rd Piano Concerto is also epic, but more in a virtuosic sense. I think Sokolov's performance on Youtube is a rather good one.

Some music by Ravel is also pretty awesome...
I especially like 'Ondine' from 'Gaspard de la nuit', and also Jeux D'eau.

I don't know if you like Bach but I think it can be quite profound at times. I would recommend The Goldberg Variations performed only by Glenn Gould. It might be hard to listen to, but I thought listening to it the whole way through almost felt like a religious experience (and I'm an atheist).

Debussy is pretty much awesome all the time. Suite Bergamasque is really good and he's got lots of other great pieces scattered throughout his other works.

Edit: LOL ninwa I spent so much time typing this it seems you beat me to 2 of the pieces :P

+1 on everything aforementioned

 -Grieg piano concerto
 -Islamey -Balakirev
 -Godowsky's 'salon' arangements
-Chopin's Funeral March -I'm saving this for when I feel I really need it, emotionally

 to name but a few

there's one my sister used to play, by an Australian composer, which had chords ascending at the end of a phrase, never knew what it was called though, unfortunately

Rachmanioff 2nd and 3rd piano concertos are truly amazing.

I'm a huge fan of Chopin, so I suggest all his scherzos.

Also Greig's piano concerto (especially 3rd movement)

Liszt Hungarian rhapsody no. 6 and no. 8

Liszt - La Campanella (as ninwa mentioned), try find one played by li yun di on youtube. He plays it so good.

Saint-Saens piano concerto no. 2 (3rd movement is really good :P)

Tchaikovsky - Dumka (I personally love this piece to death)

Moskovsky - caprice espagnol

Chopin - Fantasy in F minor, op.49 (Not the famous op 66 :P)

I love how the majority of suggestions are romantic :P

How about some good old Bach? I love Bach. His music is so ... pure.

Stay away from Gaythoven though. Yawn.
