APRIL FOOLS 2009: Introducing VCENotes Premium Membership

I have been busy developing a new feature for members who are generous enough to contribute financially towards the continued existence of this website - 'premium' membership. I have completed the BETA version of this today and have currently deployed this for closed beta testing with select forum members.

But...to give you a sneak peek at the features:

General

- A private forum where you can discuss anything.
- Priority support and implementation of premium member suggested features
- Immunity for negative karma
- A special rank to show our appreciation for your generosity
- The ability to upload and choose your own forum themes, rather than the default SMF theme.

Posting

- Premium members can post in HTML and attach enhanced signatures (including Flash)
- The ability to block/ignore posts (and signatures) from selected user(s)
- The ability to block notification of new posts in those forums you don't actually read, for example Sweet Nothings
- The ability to delete posts that marked as spam by our to-be implemented spam detection system

IRC

- Automatic '+v' access to the IRC chat channel

And, of course, more features will be implemented on the suggestion of our premium members.

We're looking to implement this for the low price of around $20 per year, and this will help to pay for the costs of hosting this high volume website and fund even more improvements for our service to you. However, this price is yet to be settled but is not likely to be any more than $20/yr.

Yeah, I was going to make the announcement myself, but Excal did most (if not all) of the legwork. I'll just add that if this trial is successful, we'll add even more features, like the ability to give unlimited karma (mods already possess this feature), and maybe a special non-harmful moderator ability like the power to lock topics. More info to come later.

We are looking at several ways to pay - PayPal included. Direct bank deposit is a feasible option too. We're also looking at the possibility of 'payment' based on the number of (good) notes submitted - kind of a way for us to financially reward you for the notes that you submit to our site.
