Hey guys, who's looking at doing an Arts course next year?
Which university? What subjects?
For anyone already doing Arts, any particular subjects you can recommend?
I put Arts at University of Melbourne as my first preference..
I know most on this site are more geared towards mathematics and science, but I'm hoping there's still a few amongst you..

I have been completely driven away from the Melbourne Model - I wouldn't do arts there basically. It is alright if you are musical or want to do pysch - but for us straight humanities kids- it seems a waste. Plus lots of staff are being culled from the arts faculty and subject cuts. (Hence stability of arts faculty at the moment seems questionable)
Hence I would prefer to stay away from Melbourne for those reasons.
And if I do stay at Melbourne: Monash > Melbourne
But I intend to study arts or arts/law at ANU
ARTS all the way though :)

Yeah I chose Melbourne over Monash purely because I went to both open days and liked the Melbourne campus a lot better, both aesthetically and from the students I spoke to. People are saying the clearly-in ENTER for arts at melbourne is going to go up. Was around 85 this year, 90.5 in 2007 and 92.5 in 2006... I think. Any ideas of what this year'll be?

Wtf it dropped 5.5 points in a single year? I was under the impression ENTER scores only fluctuated slightly from previous years. The Melbourne Model would have played its part in that but still... A big jump.

"For 2007, Arts made an additional 355 offers with a CIR of 90.9 (92.5 in 2006) and Commerce an additional 154 offers with a CIR of 95.05 (95.85 in 2006)"- That's from an article on the UoM website. And for sure last year it was 85. So yeah, not quite sure what to expect...

Really? I wouldn't of thought they couldn't just stipulate like that, as student numbers, quality of students etc needed to be taken into account.

During one of my daily extended procrastination sessions, I began looking at the 2009 handbook on the Melb Uni site, trying to find all the subjects I like. I seriously have no clue what to major in- I just want to do an array of courses really, not set ones in a certain discipline like psychology or european studies or whatevs. Didn't seem like any of the fields of study had enough cool courses to justify majoring in
