Here is the place to discuss the evils and glories of the Paper One Trial Paper from CSSA!

What was your favourite stimulus for the creative?
How did you go with the unseen texts?
How did you go with the essay?

Please don't write the exam questions here - they are under security until week 5 for illness and misadventure students.

Favourite stimulus was probably the first one? The astronaut - flower thing really appealed to my artist side :) All of them were actually not too bad, I'm honestly surprised that they didn't chuck Atwood in there (teachers seem to love Atwood for reading tasks)
I really could've spent my time more wisely: I spent like 50 mins on reading, 40 mins on essay (whilst cutting out all my linking sentences at the end ouch), and 30 mins on my narrative which I had about 100 words to go but didn't finish :(
Hopefully, Paper 2 will be kinder to me...

The comprehension completely screwed me but the essay was easy as, so was the creative. Hopefully whoever is marking my paper really likes breakfast food bc comprehension was all waffle lmao

It should be fine. You'd be surprised as to how easy it is to get marks in section 1 - standard have a history of performing better in section 1 because advanced tend to overcomplicate it.

So long as your waffle was convincing.

I saw that stimulus and I was like "what the flip!?" I'm glad you got something out of it!

yes, they do love Atwood. I think it is because her work is short, but jam packed with stuff to analyse.
Good luck for Paper 2!

I think I managed my time pretty well, I did my creative first and spent 35 minutes basically regurgitating my prepared response as it was really relevant to the question (thank God!!), I then spent 45 minutes doing the same with my essay (I really lucked out with the questions), but the last 40 minutes on the unseen texts were a killer. I found the texts really difficult to comprehend, especially under timed conditions. The last text was particularly strenuous to analyse, hoping I made up the marks in Section II and III.
Goal ATAR: 90.00

I graduate in 2016 and study English Advanced, English Extension 1, Design and Technology, Modern History, History Extension, General Mathematics and Studies of Religion 1. Hoping to study the Bachelor of Design (Hons) / Media (PR and Advertising) at UNSW Art and Design.

So glad that your prepared response worked! How did you spend your reading time? Planning your responses or reading the unseen texts?

Creative was very kind, and essay would have been to if I was a little more prepared (khe sara hey?). I actually didn't mind comprehension, but that's an unpopular opinion.

In terms of the essay, did anyone else feel that there may have been a hook in terms of the wording. Can't remember it exactly but there was some terminology that gave me pause.
