I was wondering if it is a bad idea to use a related text which is commonly used by other people such as the poem Invictus. Is it going to be harder to get a good mark?

Hey Lucy, welcome to the forums! ;D

There is no actual rule like, "If the student uses a popular related, subtract two marks." There's no rule against it. Could there be some subconscious bias there? Perhaps, but I think you play that risk with any text of any type. Basically, my opinion would be to pick the related that works best for your text in your mind - Don't try and navigate expectations that are mostly just hearsay and imagination! ;D
