CSSA Paper Two Discussion Thread!

For lots of you - ENGLISH IS OVER!

If you did the Catholic Secondary Schools Association paper: tell us about it!

What did you think of each question? Did you feel really underprepared after seeing the questions or were you confident you'd ace it once you started writing?

If you didn't do the CSSA paper but have finished your Trial Paper Two - please tell us about your paper as well!

Papers were required to be held until today (Thursday 17th) so we can now chat about the questions and the approaches we took. However, please do not share copies of the exam or anything similar!

This exam actually wasn't bad. Module A only screwed me over cause I couldn't think of quotes, Module B was scary for 5 minutes until I realized I could adapt my existing essay, and Module C was just ehh.

Module C was such a boring question that i had to stop multiple times in the exam to remotivate myself. For MOD B you can be really clever and manipulate the topic so it suited my ideas really well. Module A seemed a bit general to be honest.

So module C wasn't very inspiring?

But overall - a less tricky paper than yesterday, just not quite as gripping?

(If anyone remembers the questions you were given - can you PM them to me please :)

Module C question was really confusing for people and politics and was not worded very well at all ...

Surprisingly, I found Module C to be my best essay (People and Politics). Although my related needed some work and additional justification, I feel I came up with an incisive and unique stance to tackle the question.

For Module A and B, they got messy. I brought in some good points (I feel) but they may be lost in translation and I only did one idea for all three modules - is this detrimental to my marks?

All in all, I feel I might've done better for Paper 2 than Paper 1.

Do you mean - you followed the same idea for all three modules, or you only produced one argument for each module, respectively?
I'm pretty sure I PM'ed you mine for JC+Prince, Citizen Kane and BNW a bit ago :)

Got your PM! Thank you :)

Did anyone do People and Landscapes? What was the general consensus on that Module C question?

Produced one argument for each model respectively.

Thing is, I really suck at integrated paragraphs, so to do two ideas would mean four body paragraphs. Plus, it seems I wrote more booklets than those who did two anyway.

Only problem is, I'd add analysis as it came to me, so it seems messy and not that well-flowing but the content is there.

I wouldn't doubt yourself too much at the moment. There's a chance that it actually came together really well. Even if you only followed the one main idea for each, your analysis could have naturally teased out a little more than just that which would be great for your overall essay. In the exam it always seems different to how it actually is - so the feedback you get from this trial will be helpful. It's also really good that you can recognise your strengths and weaknesses. So before HSC, maybe it's time to work on integrated paragraphs more so that you can comfortably approach this in an exam?

Luckily my ORT and Bnw worked perfectly for Mod C and Mod A was almost the exact same as our assessment task. Unfortunately still have the pleasure of Ext Eng but at least its next Thursday  :P

aarrgh!  :-\ :'(
mod A was a really good question for me.. themes and quotes worked well.. *thank u CSSA.. for a change!*
mod b was ok but kinda narrow..... probably made it hard for myself by choosing kinda random/hard techniques to analyse but ah well!
but wot the hell was the mod C question even asking?! i totally fell apart for that one  :o :-\ :'( :-[ analysis was basically non-existent and can u believe it...... forgot abt related text until 10 minutes to go!! argghhh..... flunked that one..
so now that i feel that both paper 1 and 2 were a bit of a fail.. sheesh! ah well..... english is dooonee for now!
ATB everyone with your other topics.. hope it gets easier from here on in  8) ::)
