This is a very intense match for both players.
Federer will be going for his 14th Grand Slam for the chance to stake a claim to being the greatest tennis player ever. It will not only give Federer a record-equaling 14th grand slam crown, putting him level with Pete Sampras but an oppurtunity to join Don Budge, Fred Perry, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Agassi as the men who have won all four majors.
Soderling on the other hand will be going for his first Grand Slam. Soderling is playing extremely well and he's definitely not the same Soderling that Federer has played in his previous matches. He pulled off the biggest upset of the French Open history. It wasn't luck that he managed to take out some the best clay courters of our time (like Nadal, Ferrer, Davidenko or González) in this tournanment. He's clearly a dangerous player and a genuine threat to Federer purely because he clearly is.
The player who plays with more conviction, dare to go for his shots with high consistency but not over-bashing the ball, with controlled aggression will win the final.
I have my money on Fed and I would like to see him holding the trophy on the Sunday afternoon.
Allez Roger!
