i'm struggling to choose between spesh and physics for y11/12
i'm looking to get into med/biomed

my understanding is that vce physics affects the unit you take in biomed at uom
and also there is physics in the gamsat for graduate entry

would anyone recommend taking physics over spesh for med?

There's basically no pros to doing specialist other than scaling - but it's typically best to ignore that when making your choices, unless you know you can score higher in specialist without scaling.

Otherwise, physics is going to be more useful if you plan on pursuing post-graduate medicine, because as you say - there's a physics section in the GAMSAT.

From what I've seen in all the tests for medicine, (I'm in VCE too, but not going into Med, another science I will though, just going from what I've seen), there is a fair physics component in some of them. The science knowledge will help.

If I had to pick one, it would be Physics. However, if you are doing both Bio and Chem, then the advantage of physics over specialists maths isn't as large, and in this case, personally I would choose specialists mathematics. But don't just pick spec for the scaling. It is the sort of subject you need to be quite strong in it, and/or very dedicated to it.

As I said though, methods, bio and chemistry all together I'd think would be quite enough to get into medicine and to be prepared (this is only my opinion).
