The answer is B

But I don't understand why?!

Change in oxidation numbers. has 0 as an oxidation number then has -1 as an oxidation number. Just look for a change in oxidation number and you'll find the redox reaction.

But in the has an oxidation number of +1, so would the be the oxidant or the reductant?

As the oxidation number of Iodine has increased to +1 and -1, it acts as both a reductant and an oxidant

Is that even possible, for a substance to act as an oxidant and reductant at the same time?
