I've been told you don't need GMA for Specialist and I intend to do specialist next year without having done it.

With topics, there's pi's list of topics that ARE relevant for specialist, I don't think there's a list of topics that aren't. However, you could easily just look at the textbook, and cross out the topics that are listed below and then you'd have a list of topics that aren't.
TOPICS IN GMA RELEVANT FOR SPECIALIST MATHS 3+4:
• Vectors
• Algebra (also draw from Methods knowledge)
• Quadratics and rates (also in Methods 1+2 textbooks)
• Partial Fractions - if you need help
• Complex Numbers (i, cis, z=x+yi, de Moivre's, etc.) - basic help
• Dynamics (forces, equilibrium, coefficient of friction, etc.)
• Kinematics (displacement, velocity, acceleration, etc.)
• Loci (and associated graphs)
• Trig (rules, identities and graphs) - sample problems
• Angles (all those rules and circle geometry -none of the 'bisecting a line with a protractor' rubbish though)
• Shapes (volumes, surface areas, ratios, 3D vs 2D, etc.)
• Sequences and Series (helps with problem solving, although not necessary)

@ laseredd:  Thanks

@ swarley: I'm not worried! I just want to have a solid foundation in the basics so I know why this and that happens, why you can't perform that operation etc. I hate having only an 'understanding' based on rules, tricks and/or shortc
