I've been getting 85 and upwards. I am aiming for about 90%, but I am not too confident, I suck at explaining concepts concisely, but I feel that as long as I keep practicing I will be fine.
I'm in the 80s too :)
Still have a week to grind out a few more exams though :D

I'm in the high 70's  :( I need a 90+ to get a 40+ study score - does anyone have any tips? I've done five practice exams - three VCAA, two STAV. How many more should I aim to get done before the exam? What should I do between exams - study concepts I got wrong, redo the questions I got wrong, etc.? All help is appreciated!

Quantity vs quality. You should probably do more exams until you feel comfortable; however, more exams doesn't necessarily mean better revision. Doing only a few vcaa exams is better than doing a bunch of bad trial paper exams, because in the end it is VCAA who is assessing so you should familiarise yourself with their style. Inbetween exams- yeah I suggest just going through the questions you got wrong, and if you are alien to the concepts, then you should definitely revise.
This is just how I'm studying so far, other response are welcome

I've been getting high 70s to mid 80s- I'm really worried I won't be able to get a 40+. Always lose about 7 marks on MC :/

Do you guys think there will be questions on tropisms and plant growth regulators (specifics) this year?
havent seen questions on these in a while on past vcaa exams but its still on the study design so it may come up??

What has everyone been getting for their practice exam scores?
Same here....I've been getting arounf 80-85%.

What do you guys reckon the hardest topics are??
Mine is meiosis diagram(gametes, crossing over, gene linkage) and Human evolution

And what would your choice be ...STAV or NEAP???

There won't be anything in too much detail. We actually don't need to know about hormones in plants or tropisms very much, I've asked my teacher. If they do mention hormones they will tell us what it is or everything we need to know about it - for example, we do not need to know for example that auxin stimulates growth in the stem of the plant.

Same here. If MC is out of 25 I always get 19. It's actually really frustrating >:(
I think we'll do better on the day though :D

Sup guys long time since I posted

Hope you're all killing the practice exams, just dont forget to relax a bit and dont stress too much about it. Biology is a very good subject and is fun, embrace the subject and you will do a lot better.

Blacksanta62 I always lost 5+ marks on MC on practice exams but on the real one I lost only 2, dont worry too much about it.

:)
Cosine! <3
Hop everythings going alright, read your post on the UoM general chat a while back, keep pushing man!
Ok. I'll keep that in mind and keep my stress levels low. How many exams did you do?
Not trying to derail the thread in anyway!

I did one of the Engage Education Biology exams...I don't think it's very good. What does everyone think about exams from Engage Education? And what are the best practice exams to do after you do VCAA's? Should you do the ones before 2013, or because there were two exams for each year should we not do them?

im so angry at them rn. seriously, each multiple choice ive gotten wrong is either absurdly worded, has irrelevant shit, or is contradictory. i.e a mCQ asked if chromatids are genetically idenetical, their answer goes to say they're not bc of crossing over (which wasn't even an option...) and then their explanation goes on to explain that all chromatids are gentically identical to each other :) :) :) :)

I did the 2016 TSSM in class and the first short answer question was more chemistry related, covering things not on the study design. Content not on the study design and incorrect answers is what I find with their exams. Multiple choice with questionable answers.
