HI so i'm a new melbuni student and i've been looking through thee merc stores (which are pretty lacking seeing as it doesn't even have a jumper, just t shirts and hoodies and the random vest)
I've seen online photos of them though i don't know of they're self designed and made or if the university actually makes them.
Also if anyone knows where to get melb uni jumpers that'd also be EPIC

anyways, thanks very much :)

On that note, does anyone know if Biomed Students get a jumper during Orientation?

I’d also be interested in the response. I saw a whole table full of boxes with jumpers for the Science orientation day on Wednesday. Did students pay for this at a prior date?

Nope, they were for free - you just had to rock up to orientation day and you got one.

Do you have a picture of the specific one that you are referring to? I believe that some styles of the varsity jacket were given out for volunteering on open days a few years back.

Speaking on behalf of the Biomed students' society: no, you don't. We normally sell a Biomed item of clothing later in sem 1 (hoodie or sweater in the past) but these won't be announced for a while now.

A lot of people got theirs for free by volunteering on Open Day. Otherwise, there have been various competitions in the past to get your hands on one. Social Media used to hand them out every so often (that's how I ended up with one)

so why do science students get it for free but biomed students have to pay ahah?

Different faculties are able to do essentially what they like tbh. If science wants to pay for them then fair enough.
