Title: Silly things you did during the exam..
Post by: xdecay on November 03, 2011, 05:06:03 pm
During the exam I wrote 'A Farwell to Arms' instead of 'farewell' thrice throughout my whole essay.

And I was trying to find another word for 'horrific' and thought of 'terrible' so I wrote down 'terrific'.

Any silly things you guys did today?

Wrote the prompt instead of the text on the space provided above the conflict essay. Does it matter if you mentioned the text throughout the essay

Haha, how did you even squeeze that in?! For one second I thought we were supposed to write our names in that box. But then I turned my logic on. :P

That would be me. I said to myself in reading time "what the hell is this, oh it's a book. mental note: it's a book". And what do I refer to it as, an image :(

It was only in the front of the booklet of the expository section that we had to put the name of the text we used right?

like there were two boxes, one for our context and the other for the text?

where did it say to put the prompt, i think i missed it ???!

you only needed to put the context eg. "ENCOUNTERING CONFLICT"
and then in the other box the name of the text eg. "THE CRUCIBLE"

you DID NOT need to write the style of your piece. NOR did you have to write the prompt. there was only 1 prompt for each context. i dont think the examiners will get confused :P

It's little things like the SAC booklets my school would do that I realised I took for granted...
I hope everyone knows that the markers don't see those pages... they're not scanned in, from what I've heard.

i know someone who drew her note-form summary diagram (part of section C language analysis in ESL) on the blank parts of the booklet. a lot of us originally thought that the blank space was allocated for the diagram as well. but oops. :|

'scanned' as in, the copies are sent for examiners to mark, right?

Pretty much, the copies sent to the examiners aren't the originals: the process that has been explained to me is that they're catagorised by people, then made into electronic copies, then sent to the markers.
It's like the "this page is intentionally left blank" on some things like the GAT & the AIMS tests we did in earlier years of school.

Or at least, that is what I've been told.

(mentioned a few times when I've asked various people about marking process, and my english teacher once told me not to write parts I forget, leave out and add in later on the left hand page because the examiners don't actually get that page)

So if i didnt write 'BLANK' on the first page they'll scan the whole book right?

Do you think i should call up VCAA and tell them i started on the second page?

MY APOLOGIES!
Yes, I'd call to double check that they will get them.
Though, if there was any danger with losing something like that, they should have at least put warnings...

If i had like one sentence on the blank part of the book and i clearly labeled that it was there would they take this into consideration. I figure it might ruin the flow of my essay if they can't read half a sentence : /

I do ESL too and yes the diagram is worth half of section C. It involves summarizing the main points of the 'tattoo' article so it's important that the examiners get my friend's diagram in which she drew on the blank page. :)

if they don't get it, it's not a matter of consideration. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, IF they get the pages.
