Yeah hopefully :P
The guys that do 100, is their form correct? A lot of people tend to arch their back during the rep which enables heavier weights to be lifted but it's bad for the back.
Gold Standard is great value for money, i get 5lbs for $85 which is decent, I've seen it at GNC for way higher. Seriously guys if you are buying supplements don't go to GNC, they rip you off so bad.
Did you use the ammino charged WPI? Looks pretty decent, why did you switch?
I only use protein supplements at the moment, I might explore glutamines, recovery supps etc after school.
And zyzz was king of aesthetics, he's dead now, partly because of anabolics. check his fb page out and just youtube him haha
-
how the hell can you bench 80... i only do 50 max :( on the up side I only weight 55kg so I don't have to do much cardio :P
I weigh 80 kg tho, so don't worry! To be classified strong you have to lift 1.5 your mass, so i still got 40kg to go :p
Yep depends on your type of body and physique. If you're naturally skinny and lean with not much muscle, you have to bulk and not worry about cardio as much, whereas someone like me who is naturally bulky needs to do cardio in conjunction with lifting, which is annoying! Otherwise I'll keep putting muscle and fat and end up like some Russian weight lifting champion :p
Yeah hopefully :P

Their form on the bench is good but yes they get a bit of arch in there. Which I think is the usual way to bench, however yeah over arching is bad. I for some reason lift my head off the bench, it is pretty much in the spite of the moment.
I got double rich chocolate for 90 + 1 free shaker from eavylyn faye in the city :) what's gnc?!
I actually used protein synergy 5 but I think amino charged WPI would've been better, or maybe the superior whey!
I just wanted to have a change, i wasn't getting good gains, but when I used gold standard, i found that I had gained lots of muscle in the space of 2 months. - before and after pics :)
Yeah good idea.
Oh ok, well ill have a look at him!

I googled eavylyn faye, didn't find anything :/
GNC is like a big supplement chain, as if you havn't seen them around haha. I either go to Australian Sports Nutrition or use http://thesupplementden.com.au/
I wouldn't think using a different supplement would change the way you put on muscle mass. Supplements make up like less than 10% of a difference and in the end, protein is protein. Maybe it was different water levels in your body at the time?
Yeahh boy

Gonna try get an ATARNotes discount code on some supplement websites. (Srs)
-
Oh yeah WPI, WPC etc forgot about that :P Yeah then they do make a difference to gains haha, sorry about that.
I bought 10lbs gold standard for $140 and it's $170 on that site, so much price difference.
I've actually never tried any other proteins because gold standard seems pretty good, but I'm thinking of trying AST VP2, it's pretty expensive though.
Can you buy like 90%+ protein by weight?
-
I dunno wether this is relavent to the topic but has anyone ever tried chia? Apparently it's supposed to be the highest plant based source of omega 3. I really enjoy those nudies drinks with banana and chia seeds. What a great way to get omega 3 from a bottle.

Hehe :p its cool!
Where from?! Is it cheaper to just buy it from aussie supplement websites? I'd get it from bodybuilding.com but they don't ship ON here :(
Well ON hydrowhey ( about 75% protein per serving) is meant to be bloody awesome but it's price is ridiculous!
International amino charged is good value for its price I guess ;)
Dynamtize has one with 90% protein by mass I think. Google it?

I think I have fish oil capsules in my pantry, never use them. ;p my regular / casual diet is nutrient rich so I've never had to use vitamin tablets or anything. Only protein supplement for me!
Chia seeds aren't prevalent in Indian cuisine, however they put them in a drink/ dessert :)
-
Well if it's the 10lbs I buy from thesupplementden, and if it's the 5lbs I buy from ASN. They are the cheapest that I have found them. Yeah I've looked into dymatize before, mrsupplement sells it but it's pretty expensive :P
Yeah I emailed bb.com asking why they don't ship a wide range of proteins to Australia, something about them having to have a license or something.. But I'm pretty sure they ship pre-workouts, my friend got 1MR from bb.com I think.
-
fair enough . thanks, will look into those next time i buy ON!
yeah they'd be expensive lol, 90% protein by mass isnt ordinary :p
well they ship a lot of things, just some things like ON and stuff they dont. they ship over BSN stuff i think and etc etc :)
-
If youre looking to cut fat, horley's ripped factors is great imo. Its about 85% protein, and the remaining 15% is designed to cut away fat (carnitine, caffeine etc). My mums a pharmacist so she gets it wholesale, but remarkably, Great Earth Discount Health shop (in camberwell) sells is for cheaper than she can buy it o.O

Never heard of it :s
1.3 kg is about 90 bucks so i think economically and quality wise it'd be best to get magnum heat and acid stack ( thermogenic fat, stimulant free burners, rated 1 on bodybuilding.com) and the protein of your choice. If you get gold standard 5lb its like $90, plus magnum heat and acid stack is $70 or so, so 160 abouts for one high quality and lethal combo. 70 dollars in difference but personally id want something that has been used and produced positive results lots of times.,

I've shipped ON from US before. The customs held onto my package until I could present a list of ingredients. They promptly let it through. Though I can see why BB.com would be hesitant in dealing with their bullshit. Incidentally, I managed to get a packet of DMAA through, which looks like fucking cocaine and arguably more tightly regulated then WP.
-
how much ? was it cheaper than aussie prices if so?!
-
The bb.com raw prices are so cheap, but bloody hell the shipping just makes it ridiculous. You need to buy about 15 tubs of anything for the netprice/tub to be competitive with the cheapest suppliers here.
I don't supplement protein. I eat a load of fish/chicken/lentils/milk everyday so I always exceed my macros for protein. Only thing that does concern me is how quickly after gym I can get some in my system. I managed to convince someone (enwiabe) to buy me a bunch of low carb protein bars though, that said I'd never buy them myself.
Fish oil tabs are quite good, but if you can get it from elsewhere it's fine.
-
no protein supps arent necessary, however: as quoted from bb.com.
"The biggest advantage of protein supplements is not that they can build more muscle than turkey, chicken or egg whites or any other whole food protein, the biggest advantage is the convenience. Throwing down a protein drink or munching on a protein bar is much more convenient than preparing, cooking and cleaning up after cooking full meals.
Another advantage of supplemental protein sources is that they are manufactured to be digested faster than whole protein sources. In addition to rapid digestion, a very high percentage of good protein powders are completely digested and absorbed due to the amino acid profiles of the supplements and the lack of lactose or fat.
Protein supplements can also offer significant advantages over whole food sources. Good protein supplements can provide the needed amino acids, which are building blocks of muscle, as well as many other important supplements with adding extra, unneeded, fat contributing calories. Some of the better meal replacement products on the market today can also offer a lean enhanced nutritional profile that is hard to match while in the kitchen.
The argument among athletes and nutritionists however has focused primarily on the amount needed and whether if it makes any difference if you eat your protein from a supplement or from food.
If you have the money, it is certainly convenient to just drink down a high quality protein supplement, and adding a high quality supplement certainly can't hurt.
Beyond the convenience however, there is no substantial evidence that there is any advantage to consuming the [protein through supplementation. Does that mean you shouldn't take supplemental protein?
Absolutely not. There are obvious times when one source may have a greater advantage then the other. For example a "fast digesting" proteins such as whey isolate would be an ideal supplement to consume immediately upon waking and immediately following strenuous exercise when your blood amino acid levels are low.
Conversely, eating a protein meal can be advantageous as your last meal of the evening because the digestion process provides a slow steady stream of amino acids to the body when your next meal will not occur for several hours later.
The whole source meal can also speed up your metabolic rate as much as 30% because of the energy necessary to digest, process, and absorb it. This means that out of 100 calories of a protein food such as chicken breast, the net amount of calories left over after processing it is 70.
If you have the time and money, a majority of your protein intake should come from low fat high quality complete proteins food sources. Supplements can be incorporated at important times such as immediately upon waking, immediately prior to work outs (BCAA supplementation) and immediately following strenuous workouts for the optimum situation.
Bottom Line: It really does not make much of a difference in what form you get your protein from as long as it's a complete protein and sufficiently digestible. For the purposes of developing muscle, the only guidelines for protein that you must follow are:
Consume a source of complete protein with every meal
Eat at frequent intervals approximately three hours apart (about six times per day)
Consume a minimum of 1.0 grams to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight."

i buy these seeds in packets and mix it in the oatmeal.
sounds gross but sometimes i mix it in my asian stir-fries as well to replace cashews when i run out (for overall crunchiness).
don't trust nudies, it's overpriced and strictly for indie kids. :P
-
how much ? was it cheaper than aussie prices if so?!
30-40 bucks cheaper. Not really worth it considering the wait. Now I just get some WPC from BulkNutrients.
Supps are great for cutting or meeting your protein quota. It's just milk dude
-
Yeah I have nothing against supps, it's just that I pretty much always have some tuna with me. As I said the rate at which it is digested is my main concern out of having food over supps.
Statwise you can get tuna with 0 fat and carbs, so having additional fat is not a problem.
Do you guys take any other vitamin supps?
-
I used to take a multi and vit D. I've just become a bit lazy lately. DMAA and caffeine before workout. That's about it
-
As stated before, convenience is the biggest thing.
I worked out before school and there was absolutely no time to eat anything since I had to rush to class and drinking a protein shake was a huge convenience.
And once you're at home and get lazy and realize you have to eat like 7 meals a day but you don't want to eat the same thing or you're too busy gaming and you don't want to waste time preparing meals and taking the time to eat them, a protein shake is a true life saver.
But honestly boiled eggs is pretty easy to do as well as tuna in a sandwich (takes ages to eat though). I'm glad to have a mother that cooks me oatmeal every morning :)
And +1 to Gold Standard Chocolate Flavour (actually gets addictive after a while)
Have yet to try other supplements but real food is really the best option with perhaps a protein shake every day and one more on workout days.
-
I just whey protein for the convenience and because it's fast digesting for post-workout (most important meal).
I need to buy some muliti's, any recommendations for what brand to buy?
In the end supplements are there only to supplement a good diet. Kids at my school buy all sorts of supplements and they seem rely on them, the advertising by companies like Muscletech is insane, it's such a trap haha.
And +1 to Gold Standard Chocolate Flavour (actually gets addictive after a while)
Yeah all flavours of ON are good, except strawberry. Has a terrible reputation. I'm using choc-coconut atm.

A mate got a bag of isolate from here

has lasted him over a year so far. Taste isn't bad and it's 92% protein
quite cheap too

wow, I wonder if Australian protein companies like Musashi and Horleys buy from here and just flavour it...
It's actually fairly cheap, but you have to buy like 20kg. I'm interested though.
-
are there any reviews or anything for them?
the main reason i use gold standard is cause of the recognition its received worldwide and the quality of the protein.
does anyone here use any pre-workouts, like N.O Explode ? or monster pump? exclude jack3d because ive heard too much about it :p
-
I use DMAA which is the main ingredient in those stuff but I might transition to Jack3d

http://www.livestrong.com/article/502978-long-term-effects-of-protein-supplements/#ixzz1lb5YDonW
Have a read of this for anyone using protein shakes.
The article states that excess protein is the blame for the risks, but seems to link it only to protein shakes. Same could be said about having 'excess chicken' after working out as well right?
-
Yeah there is a problem with excess protein. That's why I cycle when I'm on a PMSF/low carb diet as well as I ocassionally eat waaaaaayy too much tuna/chicken/cottage cheese when I'm doing it.
-

Cycle protein shakes or protein in general?
The article blames protein shakes but its just protein in general that has the health risks, but I was wondering if protein shakes can have a side effect on their own.
-
Is it just me or do protein supplements make your stomach feel bodgey ?
Edit: Just remembered something, what do people think of the pre-workout supplement 'jack3d'

Depends what brand of protein, that's why you experiment.
Don't take it, messes with your body. It works, but I definitely wouldn't recommend using it during VCE.
-
1) The supplement I'm currently using is the Dymatize Elite Whey, which is half empty because it was my brothers but as soon as it finishes I want to buy the ON gold whey :)
2) Yeh I've heard there are a lot of risks involved, that reminds me apparently today 2 soldiers collapsed or something after using jack3d and now its banned in the military..
-
Is there an article online or something?

I wouldn't mind taking jack3d, have heard there are great results, but it's actually banned by most sporting bodies.
Whilst I've never been drug tested, you can still be subjected to it if you're playing at a certain level or above (most University teams are included), really don't want to risk it.
@Kenoy, I cycle protein in general. When I eat high protein, I literally have like 80:10:10 macros for protein:fat:carbs. I never do it for more than a week though.
Regular cutting (-500 calorie) diet is much more balanced at like 40:10:50 roughly.
-
Ive heard that (not protein) but supplements and shit fuck with your body. ALl that fake shit can't be good for you in the long run. Kidney, liver etc would take a beating.
-
That's why I'm thinking of buying protein powder from a direct source, not a company that adds flavorings and other stuff.

Guys what's the difference between the Dymatize ISO-100 with the silver label and the one with the regular black label ?
-
lol same stuff new label.
Got gifted this set for my birthday, over the moon!
-
Niceee, do you know where the gold standard was bought from?
I just bought 10kg of WPI from nobull supps for me and my friends :D
-
From AAASupplements, they're probably the cheapest out.
Very nice, I'm considering getting from there once i run out.
-
ISO-100 vs ON gold standard hmm...? tough choice.
-
ISO-100 vs ON gold standard hmm...? tough choice.
ISO is more expensive, because it has more protein per 100g. ON has 79g, ISO has 89.
Both are good imo, I would say ON is more popular.
-
Kenoy let us know your progress with NoBull yeah?
-
lol same stuff new label.

I hope you like your AA's being derived from duck feathers :P
-
Found ISO-100, 2lb, on eBay for $49.95 (old label) don't think it would get much cheaper than that would it ?
-
Kenoy let us know your progress with NoBull yeah?
You mean like a review of it?
good value, cheap whey - where + what
Or do you mean actual progress with my body using NB

$100 for 2.27kg (about 5lbs)
Buying 2.27kg would be better, 2lb is only 910g.
What's putting you off ON?
Or even no bull :P
-
Haha I'm going with ISO-100 because of the extra protein per 100g.
-
Haha I'm going with ISO-100 because of the extra protein per 100g.
I see, no bull's WPI is 93% protein, 3kg for $80 :P
Taiga how trustworthy would you say a small business like no bull is? What I mean is how can we be sure its 93% protein by weight? I know you could say the same about larger companies but it would be less likely as they have more reputation to uphold.
-
OH-EM-GEE (OMG) ISO-100 for $25 (2lb) and $53 for 5lb, and they deliver to Australia.
http://www.supplementing.com/dymatize-iso-100
Ridiculous prices.

Most American online stores will have those kind of prices, and shipping would be like $60 I'm pretty sure, so end up being more than buying from here :-\

If you don't care about taste you can get 22lbs (10kgs) of WPI for $200 with free shipping (takes 2-3 days). Its the same protein NB uses.

Today was the first day i decided to take jack3d, I've had it for about 2 weeks but because of all the stuff I hear about it I decided to delay using it.
I only used half a scoop, but still put the same amount of water as what is needed for 1 scoop, bloody hell that shit is powerful !

Good that you didn't take 1 scoop the first time round :P You still feeling the effects?
-
The first 5-10 minutes my face was itchy which a lot of people said would happen, but either than that I haven't experienced any side-affects, not even a crash afterwards.
I guess I can't really judge until a take a full scoop with the right amount of water.

It has Beta Ala-nine in it, makes people with bloody type-O ich a lot :P.
I know that I have blood-type O, so thats why I don't buy preworkouts and most preworkouts have Beta alanine.
Also they used to be a banned substance in Jack3d (1-3 dimethylamine) and they've take taken it out :P.

Mine has 1-3 dimethylamine, but yeh it's been banned in sports.
