I shall begin uploading exams now. Not everything's scanned at this moment, but I will upload what I have. Watch this thread.
[also, this thread will be locked until I finished scanning stuff so all the uploads are in one place :)]
Watch this space.

UNIT 3 EXAMS

Jacaranda Study-On Teacher Edition Exam (for the current edition of Study-On Chemistry 2)
If I ever get around to it, I'll make a better version of the suggested solutions.

also, calling for anyone who has '08 U3 Insight and CSE exams in electronic form, and solutions to both of these. I have the exams in low-quality hard-copy [badly photocopied...], and no solutions. PM would be appriciated :) [in exchange... a lot of goodies]

Thanks Mao for all the exams
Here is one with solutions attached.
-
Wow thanks everyone!
-
Here are some more Mao
-
thanks kat :)
-
Hey Kat, do you have any solutions for the exams you uploaded?
-
Hey Kat, do you have any solutions for the exams you uploaded?
oops sorry, I should've mentioned the solutions were already included for both files :)
-
Oh great
Thanks Kat :)
-
does anyone have the insight 2009 chem exam?
-
Hey, Does anyone know where i can get the Neap Diagnostic Tests from? thanks :)
-
The NEAP books are always a good place to start. Most schools usually have them in the VCE section of their libraries.
-
TSFX 09 exam, all thanks goes to kat148!!!

TSFX multi choice question 3
can someone explain why in NH3 the oxidation number of N is -1/3 i swear it was just -3 or maybe im just retarded
-
The oxidation number of N is -3 :)
-
sighs at tsfx<.<

same exam multi choice 11
AAS does UV light?
-
same exam multi choice 11
AAS does UV light?
Yes AAS is based on the idea that metal ions will emit the same wavelength of light as they absorb. Some metal ions will emit UV radiation as well (considering enough energy was added so the electron jump is really 'big', ie to a really high energy level, hence it releases more energy when it falls back down to its ground state), as a result you can shoot use UV radiation for that certain sample of metal ion for AAS.
-
so due to the fact that ions emit uv light we can say that AAS is based the absorption of visible and UV light
hmmm interesting

Yes because AAS is based on the fact that metal ions will absorb the same amount of energy needed to promote an electron to a higher energy level. Therefore if some metal ions can release UV light, it means they will also absorb it. But obviously you must shoot the exact wavelength of light required.
-
lol i wish i was that pro
that explains or 48 in SLA haha
Is it possible to shoot UV light through AAS set up? UV Cathode lamp ftw?
-
hey mao do you have CSE 2009 exam?

hey mao do you have CSE 2009 exam?
Here ya go. If you print it out, it's suppose to ressemble a booklet so yea :p

yeah, same here

The TSFX one has me close to tears
TSFX is notorious for being retarded
Ditto. I felt like the most retarded Chem student that ever walked this planet when I did their exams for the first time.

^damn right ppl
-
agree ; :'(
-
can someone pls explain to me, how to do the last question (9 c) on the tsfx 2009
exam in english! they have the most retarded working out.
im fine with the K+ bit. just the ppm bit is confusing.
is that bit of the answers correct?
thanx
-
ppm = g/10^6 g
soo basically they got the mass of K+ ions and thats in 25L
25L = 25,000 mL
1mL = 1g
soo thats the mass of K+ ions in 25,000 g
since ppm is 10^6 g
how many times does 25,000 go into 10^6 g
thats 40
soo u times the mass of K+ ions by 40
to get the mass per 10^6 g
which is ppm

umm in regards to C iii question 1 for the tsfx paper
maybe im tired and cant think or something but doesnt the use of the phenolphthalein indicator result in an underestimation as the colour would change too early
-
and i got 123% for cii however i looked at the answer it said 126
but then i put their last line of calculation in calculator and i get my answer
whats up with that?
-
is the standards of tsfx chemistry papers like way higher of VCAA exams ? if it is then i dont feel as depressed lols, after i did that exam i didnt feel like doing another one lols
-
can someone please help me with what i said above?^.^
looking in your direction Mao and Truetears:P
-
it's just your typical TSFX error
-
lol but why so many
and for the combustion of biodiesel how come the molecular formula for the biodiesel contradicts with the formula of that was produced in the question before that unless what we are 'combusting' is the fatty acid
-
it's just your typical TSFX error
-
sighs:(
-
it's just your typical TSFX error
I laughed when they said N in
had oxidation number of
.
-
other than the occasional answers being retarded the exam wasnt too bad i think
-
lol, with the phenolphtalein one, I got underestimated too! I was so annoyed, cos I'd written like three lines explaining it ntil I realised!
Yeah, TSFX exams are thought provokingand hard, but I reckon Neap and Insight have a question style which is similar to VCAA
-
Sorry to double post, but with Question 9 Multi Choice on the TSFX Exam, (Chlorine is mixed with propene. How many different compounds are obtained?) the answers say 1, because addition reactions only produce 1 product, but couldnt it be two because isomers are produced?(1-chloropropane and 2-chloropropane)? lol any ideas?
-
With Q9 - If you mixed HCl with propene, you would get two products (the isomers 1-chloropropane and 2-chloropropane), but since you're mixing chlorine gas, you would only get 1,2-dichloropropane. Therefore you only get one product.
-
Oh okay, i get it, thanks mate
-
lol well tsfx 09 exam sucks
-
dont say that
it provided much lolz
-
hah extremely hard to mark with all of that stuff in there
-
TSFX: Professional VCE trolls?
-
bumping this because it's useful- :) thanks mao
-
Yea...I was about to aswell...probably by the weekend :)
-
this is awesome. thanks so much everyone. :)
-
Eh, VCE Chem exams, espech the multi choice, are plain sadistic. TSFX standard seems to be the same.
-
this is gold
thanks for the upload :)
-
Thanks heaps! :)
-
thanks :)
