ATAR Notes: Forum

Hey everybody.
Now that we're producing the study guides, ATARNotes is no longer our company name (as this name will be transient and will likely change as the different education systems come and go). Don't worry, we're not changing the name of the site, we'd never be so silly. But ATARNotes will now be a service offered by the parent company being registered tomorrow. And similarly, it will be the "ATARNotes series of study guides" or something to that effect. This won't effect book designs, the name of the publishing company is only going to go on the inside cover of the book in plain text.
However, I need to come up with a new company name to register for an ABN tomorrow. It's a publishing company, so the type of name I'm looking for is "_________ Publishing" or "__________ Press" or "_____________ Media"
The name currently floating around in my head is "EJ Publishing" or "EJ Press" as named after my golden lab, EJ.
If you can think of better, post it here. You can submit as many names as you like, have fun with it, this will be the most lax announcement thread ever.

The Glorious Arsenal Press

The Glorious Arsenal Press
Permabanned.

t41g4'Z b0oKz
Imo if the current go is an acronym which no one will understand, might as well go with AN Press.
-
Taking the first letters from each of the administrators, how does DENT Academic Media sound? :P
-
I personally think it would be hilarious yet indirectly effective to just call it SWAG Press.
-
The Glorious Arsenal Press
Permabanned.
Permabanned Press?
Detective dAN Publishing
-
Logo competition for said company? ;D
-
The combined intellect of IRC came up with:
Publishing Education: Nurturing Intellectual Students
We quite like it, you?
-
Dan and co? EduUncles?
-
Taking the first letters from each of the administrators, how does DENT Academic Media sound? :P
I actually quite like this
-
XLL Publishing.
...
Considering the purpose of this is to make good education accessible, something progressive sounding like NEXT Academic Publishing?
Public Education Media?
Or maybe even something which suggests the source of all this (internet collaboration), in which case I still like "NEXT Academic Publishing" or "NEXT Academic Media", or even something like "Network Academic Press".
-
I like the idea of getting first letter of 3 admins names (Nina intentionally left out for comedic reasons).
Triple D Media?
-
I really wouldn't mind designing a logo for this.
-
Books will still have the ATARNotes logo on them though.
If we release any other products (not on the cards atm), then maybe we'll ask for one, but I don't think we have much use for it atm :(
-

I actually quite like this
TENDing the VCE Publishing? OR TENDing VCE Education Publishing?
I'm bad at this
-
setonRATA Publishing
Webaien Academic Press
-
AN Press....we still retain the ATARnotes name!
-
As its a parent company, maybe something like "LIFE Notes"?

So... philosophical.. :o
-
Might sound silly but what about Aiming High Press?
-
Megaupload?
-
Australian Academic Guides Publishing
-
Fus Ro Dah Press.
Slogan: It'll blow your mind.
-
Megaupload?
Filesonic :(

AN Limited Press.
I don't know why you would put Limited but I see a lot of big companies do it and I assume it's associated with pro-ness or something.

Limited is just the amount of liability the company has. It determines a public/private company. Just spewing out year 10 business stuff, probs not accurate haha
-
Megaupload?
Was thinking along the same lines: Meganotes
Megamind

Yeah, Limited indicates the company has limited liability in the event of accidents or whatnot ;)

I like the names of:
Talent and Educational Assistance Media (TEAM).
Australian Educational Publishing.
Education Pathways Media/Publishing.
Or possibly Tertiary Educations Admissions Media. However I do like the first (TEAM) better.
And EJ Press...
Really?
-
EducationPad Limited
-
Gotta be 'sheinhardt wig company.' I mean, what are we? Farmers????
-
How about some Latin names?
Ad astra publishing
Audeamus publishing
Excelsior publishing
Semper Excelsius publishing
-
Talent and Educational Assistance Media (TEAM).
I like this one :D
How about:
Australian Certificate of Education Resources (ACER).
Oh wait, we'd get sued by those dunderheads who write the UMAT :P
-
I quite like and respect ACER, I have no idea why you're saying they're dunderheads (okay, I do, but you shouldn't be)
-
LOL fine. Hehe why can't I say they're dunderheads? :P
(I was kinda being tongue in cheek)
-
Horizon Education Australia
Aim North (AN) Media
Equal Access Educational Resources Australia
Australian Students' Resource Network
Horizons: Open Publishing Enterprise (HOPE)
Premier Educational & Academic Resource Student Open Network (PEARSON - oh wait...)
My favourites is Australian Students' Resource Network
-
can we not have Australian in it? Like I love Australia and all, but it makes it seem so unprofessional.
Dimensions, Essential, Insight, Quest....hmmm, they're such good names! :(
-
How is it unprofessional? It just reflects what AN is about...
-
I agree with Paul; what about National Student Resource Network?
-

It's because none of the pro companies have "Australian" in them, and idk, it just doesn't sound "right" :S

That sounds a lot better than Australian Student Resource Network! :P
-

Awkward moment when 'ATARNotes' technically has an "Australia" in it.

I think you also need a special licence or something to have "Australia" in a business name?
ATARNotes wouldn't have such a licence as it is simply 'ATAR' and not the expanded version.
-
I'm not sure, but I've heard that basically you have to be an Australian owned and based company, so no biggie for AN anyways.
-
The current frontrunners are:
D4 Media
EJ Media
Take your pick
-
TBH I don't like either that much. Nothing special. Nice, but nothing special.
-
if we're using two letters, we might as well make it AN, because even if the word "ATAR" gets changed, it's still likely to be national, hence, it'll retain the A at the front?
-

D4 Media
EJ Media

Why 'media'?
-
what does EJ stand for?
EDIT: DW, just saw the OP. Your dog, that's cute <3
If it were my dog it would be "Fluffy Media"... which just doesn't have the same ring to it :P
-
Ducky Media? :P
-

D4 Media
EJ Media
Take your pick
http://www.d4media.com.au/ - looks like there's already an Australian company called D4 Media?
-
Media Media?
-
What about EJ educate? The 'e' sounding lol. Cause I don't really like the Media ending as well :/
-

AN Media seems to be what everyone wants?
I guess it'll be good to have a name that harkens back to our roots even after the system is dead and gone.
AN Media it is.
-
What's with the love for "media" enwiabe? Personally i think it makes it feel less education and more ... for enjoyment purposes. IMO the standard "Publishing" is better
Bazza, we publish a website and now we're going to publish books.
It's to reflect that we produce products and services across several media. AN Media.
And who knows, maybe one day I'll say to David "code me a web-based MMORPG". And then we will have an entertainment service :P
Yes David, this is when you run and hide.
-
Fair enough
I did a ninja edit, just to sate your curiosity about entertainment
-
I have dibs on ATAR notes App.
-
An AN MMORPG would be so intense. Should do a text only game where people simulate going through VCE. That would be worth more than facebook in a matter of days.
We'll call it third life.
-

'Media' also makes sense in the sense that AN uses social media and technology to deliver its content. I like the extension of 'Publishing' but it seems so restricted in what AN actually does - it does a lot more.
I have dibs on ATAR notes App.
I really want a mobile version ;D

Suggestion #1:
LOL notes
-by-line: we make the subject so easy, it's a joke!
Suggestion #2:
Orange
no by-line, it's clean, crisp and delicious and nutricious, furthermore it's reminiscent of Apple, how successful were they, despite their average products?. Think out of the Box
Suggestion #3:
Nacho Notes
Alliteration, it's fun to say, 2 syllables then 1 syllable, throwing a bone for the mathsy guys out there
Suggestion #4:
TOOB notes, or just TOOB.
Thinking out of the box.
rhymes with a plethora of funny words, and is fun to say.
these study guides are the first of their kind (i.e written by recently high scoring achievers in their respective subjects)
-
How bout 4D Media?
-
How bout 4D Media?
That could do
4th dimension 8)
-
I think by using media we aren't limiting ourselves with something like publishing or limited.
However I bet you, that at some stage in the next 3-5 years, Queensland may eventually come into the system and cause a revamp (oh how VCE is having their's now).
-
And then we will have an entertainment service :P
In that case you should consider the name 'Class Tube' :)
-
Personally think media is the best.
Of some of the concept expansion ideas that we've had (that will be expanded on in due time) a parent company which presents itself as a 'media' producer definitely does make sense.
-

I like the name of this actually.
-

If it simulates VCE it should be called no-life
-
SuperLearning Media. I've got this idea from superlearing music.
-

Nacho Notes
Alliteration, it's fun to say, 2 syllables then 1 syllable, throwing a bone for the mathsy guys out there
if your notes get taken, then just tell em that's nacho notes

Pedagogy Publishing or Press.
