LIMITED TIME OFFER: Anyone who orders the study guides while they're in pre-order status receives the following forum perks:
1) +15 Respect per book bought
2) Exclusive use of the Sweet Nothings forum for a month. That's right, that's our (now archived) all-out spam board. You can use it while everyone else looks on, in complete jealousy for your flouting of spam rules (note that every other rule but spam still applies to that board)
3) If we hit 300 books sold in pre-order, I will open up Sweet Nothings again for an entire year to the whole forum (this will happen one month after the people who bought the book on pre-order get to play around in the forum, to give them a chance to enjoy their perk)
4) Remember, you'll only be able to get the huge $10 off English and Chemistry if you buy them now in the pre-order.
A link to the estore is here: http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=estore
I'll be releasing a sample of English at 3 PM, and a sample of Chemistry at 4 PM, in the lead-up to the start of the pre-sale. Wallets at the ready! :P
Pricing:
Chemistry is going to be a huge 300+ A4 pages and will be priced at $35 (but just $30 for a limited time during the preorder).
English will be a concise but effective 200 A5 pages, priced at $25.
For the next 2 weeks, for the pre-order ONLY, we're offering both together for $45. (Please note that there is a $6 shipping charge, which is waived if you pick it up. We'll have two pickup locations at Monash University and State Library of Victoria. These pickup locations will only operate on weekends).
Who's excited?! :D
The books will be printed in about 2 weeks time and will be ready in 3 weeks. A month at the maximum. Please don't buy and then ask where your book is next week. You will have it by March 31st though, this I guarantee!

The long awaited English book sample! https://docs.google.com/a/student.monash.edu/viewer?url=atarnotes.com/engsample.pdf
There will be hundreds of high quality pages just like this in the book, full of great lessons in essay writing, enumerated with annotated and explained samples.
-
Get on them! I've seen small parts of the chem one and it looks excellent! I wish I had it in yr12!
-
Chemistry is taking longer to stylise than I thought... Might be another hour on the chem sample
-
Will the English book just be about essay writing or will include study of English texts aswell?
Thanks
-
Will the English book just be about essay writing or will include study of English texts aswell?
Thanks
It does not include a detailed treatment of each text. Doing so would result in a 1,000 page-long book :P There are some sample essays and paragraphs from certain texts, but the guide is designed to be applicable to studying every text.
-
Ok thanks. That should be fine then.
-
Just wondering, will the chemistry book be a summary book as well as a book that explains concepts?
Or will be most likely to be similar to the A+ notes in format?
And the State Library on weekends, when will that begin to operate?
I am sort of thinking to pick it up there
Thanks.=D
-
Where abouts do we preorder? :o
-
@Unknown_one: The Chemistry guide is a book full of exam-style questions in exam formats that have really amazing detailed solutions (as well as model solution marking schemes) That will only begin once we have the books in our possession which will be in 3-4 weeks.
@chimpy400: we are running a little bit behind schedule. Technical difficulties and all that jazz.
In the meantime, have a sample of the Chemistry book. This is the first of THREE samples. It is the questions to the first of Thushan's tests. Coming next will be his model solutions, and then finally his explanation solutions.
Chem sample! http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=atarnotes.com%2Fchemsample.pdf

Awesome.
So basically like An ATARNOTES version of an exam for chem?
Though loosely based on helping a student answer these type of questions for the midyears?
How about English? Is it merely Shrimpy's guide to writing?
And how is it bound?
Is it binder or more or less like Derrick Ha's?
Just wondering. =D

It's a collection of exams. There's something like 10 topic tests and 3 general practice exams. You should see the explanations! They're taking forever to edit and stylise because they're so detailed!
For the english book, it is Shinny and EvangelionZeta putting down their ideal essay strategies and writing techniques along with annotated samples
-
And the pre-order is live!
We're currently operating on paypal only. We will add other payment options in the coming days. You can buy the books at the "estore" link at the top of the page.
-
The model solutions for the sample test are up! They're in the original post. I'm off to see System of a Down live in concert which means the detailed explanation solutions won't be style edited and uploaded until I get back from that. I trust that when I return there will be 300 orders for the books and nothing will have gone wrong.

/me braces for the moment all the moderators and admins are actually questions in the books that enwiabe has made.
Its happened to me in a year 11 physics exam, its bound to happen again.
-
Chem looks pimp, almost certainly will pick it up when it's in production :D.
-
We're wiping off $5 from the chem book during pre-sale, and it is now $30 during pre-sale, and the new bundle will be a staggeringly low $45 for two great books!
-
It'd be funny if the forum eventually has links to the torrent of the book. The books' downfall would be what AN became big via.

Don't worry, there will be no such links in the maths/science threads, we've got that stuff removed and binned asap.

Yeah? Well I'll have them 4-0!
-
I realise many of you might be waiting until the books are actually in production, because we're yet to offer an incentive to buy the books beforehand. My bad, here's our limited time offer for buying in pre-order!

The truly amazing fully detailed solutions of Chem's sample practice test are now live!
http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=atarnotes.com%2Fchemsample3.pdf
This is the true value you'll be getting if you buy the chem book. These solutions are second to none. They explain every aspect of every question so you're never lost!
-
One word: *Speechless*.
I will probably be purchasing a few copies. :)
-
Will definately be taking more that a few copies, a few of my mates want some.
enwiabe?
Is it possible to pre-order then and do the state library pick up?
Just wondering...
-
Yeah I would like to ask where to pick up as well for the books.
-
@Mr. Study and Unknown_one thank you for the positive feedback, it's really warming to know that the samples are convincing people of the quality of the books.
We're working on pre-orders with a pickup option. Paypal is being impossibly intransigent and we haven't figured out a way to disable shipping on pickup orders, so we won't offer it until we can be sure students won't be overcharged.
We'll be adding EFT/Cheque/Money Order options over the weekend as well and they will have pickup options.
-
Sorry enwiabe,
You sort of misinterpreted, I was hoping to pay in cash. =P, as I was going to possibly by about 4-5 copies in total, with Friends.=D
Can I inquire when the Physics, and Specialist one will be released?
Hopefully I can buy it a bulk pack, which according to given prices, will be approximately 100. =D
-

Ah right. Nah, we won't be taking cash money until we physically have the book. But yeah if people buy in bulk we'll do further discounts too. Spec and Physics should be out in April
-
Will there be a unit 4 edition for chem?
-
Will there be a unit 4 edition for chem?
You betcha!
-
Hmm.
I guess there will probably be a bulk order of like 20 in total. hahaha. xP
LOLS.
Good profit in the bookmaking business right here. =D.
Is it fine if I buy them with the spesh and physics in April then?
-

-
Where do we buy them? Can someone forward me a link?
-
http://www.atarnotes.com/?p=estore
It's the "Estore" tab at the top of the page, but I should have included a more prominent link in the post. Editing it in now!

The discount (per book) will be the same for 10 books as it will be for 20 books, so you may as well buy Chem and English now and then Spec and Physics later :D
-
What are the details of Spesh and Physics? Like how many pages, roughly?
-
What are the details of Spesh and Physics? Like how many pages, roughly?
Spec will be around 250 pages A4. Physics will be around the same, possibly more. Both in the same format as chemistry. Practice tests/exams, model solutions, detailed solutions.
-
Yeah.
But it will be like 20 different people sort of, in a way, since I informed my friend about it, and they all want a copy. xP
haha. =D
I would prefer to pick it up as one though. =D
Im fine with the discount for the 10, wouldnt be much of a problem anyways.
Just post when the spesh+ Physics ones are available. =D
-
Sweet, will there be books for other subjects published besides spec and physics?
-
:) Very happy to hear Specialist and Physics are getting books!
-
This is truly amazing!! :D
-
You made my day enwiabe. Now I have 2 more study guides to complete! This may sound weird, my I am sincerely not being sarcastic here. I'M SO EXCITED!
Just a quick q: Will there be one for Methods? Or just spesh?
-

You Maths/Science students are so lucky.
Please someone make a booklet for Global and Australian politics :P
-
Just so everyone is clear, here is the proposed book release schedule:
Mid-late March: English and Chemistry
Mid-late April: Physics Unit 3, Legal Studies, Methods Book 1
Mid-late May: Further Book 1, Spec Maths Book 1
We'll be releasing unit 4 books and further, spec and methods book 2s in June/July. Sadly, Bio Unit 3 has been scrapped but we may still get bio unit 4 out there, I will keep everyone posted on that.

Who's writing Unit 3 Physics?

Who's writing Unit 3 Physics?
A friend of mine from uni who has torched so many uni physics subjects it's not funny.

Ah ok, so i can just go on the pick up day and pay by cash?
-
^is this possible?
-
Other payment methods like money order, cheque and electronic funds transfer (EFT) will be available asap. David has been hard at work coding an updated version of the estore. More on that as soon as we have it. Until then, the books are still going through their final edits and will be printed shortly. I will update this thread when we have more information.
-
I am literally jumping up and down in excitement!!!
I CANNOT WAIT!:)
-
When is the pre-sale $45 bundle for Chem and English deal going to expire?
-
When is the pre-sale $45 bundle for Chem and English deal going to expire?
As soon as we have the books printed. Which at this point is looking to be sometime from 24th of March to 31st of March. Get in quick!
-
Ok thanks, will do.
-
So are we able to get the 45 bundle as well as a pick up option?
-
Pickup options are now available in the estore for both books and the bundle!
(We finally figured out how to make it work. 2 buttons! :P)
You can now pre-order the books for pickup.
-
But how do we pay via cash?
I have a couple of friends that want to get the chem book as well, so it will be about 5 books in total, and then the rest we will get after the other books come out. =P
-
^ Same i would like to pay in cash. I dont have any of those cards (visa, mastercard etc) and dont even know what or how to use that paypal thingo ???
-

Unfortunately cash sales will have to wait until we physically have the books. What I will do is have a 2 week period after we have the books where we keep the pre-order prices for those who wanted to pay cash. I think that's the only fair way to do it :)
-
Awesome. =D
-
> doing a final proof of the English study guide
> cannot put into words how amazing it is
> if I'd had this during my VCE I probably would've gotten a 50

Seriously, you guys should talk to MchLi off the forum ( I think relevant people will know who this is without me needing to explicitly name him) about getting him to write maths texts. That guys achievements are far far far more impressive then Derrick Ha's even and DHa seems to be doing quite well.
While some of you guys might have impressive 99.95s or study scores. You can't really compete with:
-Offered two scholarships to Scotch College
-99.95
-Study scores of 50 50 50 50 50 50 47 (chinese second lang) and 5.5 uni physics in which he duxed the uni subject.
I sit next to him in chem lectures and he's just an amazingly intelligent/humble bloke. I would buy his books for my little brother for methods and spesh fwiw and I'm pessimistic on the whole 'study-guides' thing as I and many others generally found them to be useless.
Would anyone legit not buy a book off this guy:
mchli
-
enwiabe and taiga are very qualified imo, they have a lot of maths behind them (and in front of them) :)
-
He's got his own studyguide?
-
enwiabe and taiga are very qualified imo, they have a lot of maths behind them (and in front of them) :)
I agree, Enwiabe is probably better qualified to do this then M.L, he has done higher level maths. But all I'm saying is that if I saw on a book the scores that M.L achieved and knew it was written by him, I would've bought it in a heartbeat in vce.
There are MANY pure mathematicians and other mathematicians at university and engineers etc who are in high level math. Every single one of them could write a better book then anyone on this forum. Just saying man. (apart from maybe Ahmad who is one of them).
But buying a book from 50 50 50 50 50 50 etc person is what can be the differentiator. He literally took the piss out of VCE. Completely destroyed it. That is the credential he has that the aforementioned people do not. 99.95 is one thing, having two 50s that don't even count to your atar is another thing altogether.
-
This is almost serendipity. Would he be interested in coming on board for Physics? The guy writing the Physics guide has finished about 3/4 of it, but is now doing gap-year teaching in Vietnam and won't be able to complete the rest, so I need to bring someone on board to finish it off and edit the rest.
-
Now that's an idea, there are NO good study guides in VCE atm!
-

It's not me, it's the guy who's username is mchli on AN, I can talk to him in a lecture if you want though?
Just write on the front cover:
This book is written by mchli, he achieved an ATAR of 99.95 with six perfect scores, a 47 in chinese, and duxed his university physics class of roughly (200?) university students etc etc etc.
How can someone look at said book and NOT want it?

There's a few flaws with this argument, MchLi is a beast, no doubt about it, but I personally think that getting Scholarships to Scotch, getting 99.95 and getting 50s in other subjects (such as English or Chemistry) aren't very relevant to the ability to write a good study guide for maths.
You have to look at other factors as well, one of which is the ability to explain things, and somehow make people who don't understand something come to understand it. Doing well in VCE subjects does not give you this ability.
I think you're sorta thinking about using his credentials as marketing power, right?
-

I'm not just thinking it, that's exactly what I did say?
I said, 'there are high level engineering students, pure maths students and enwiabe and taiga' who know more maths then him. I don't really think it matters who writes them, just about anybody who has completed vce methods could write a good study guide for it by the time they are second year university.
fact: mchli has more marketing power then cristiano ronaldo in the vce-books world. (not more then sachin though considering a large portion of the target demographic :P)
If you guys don't do snap him up, someone else will imo.
-
Yeah, but in the end, it's not about the marketing power, it's about the ability to write good books.
The knowledge of maths one possesses, relates somewhat to the ability to write a good book, but it's not the be all and end all. You're mistaken if you think that is the case. Why are some books a joy to read whilst others are just plain laborious. Some of my med texts are like this, some fun to read, others just plain dry!
MchLi, has marketing power to those who know him, but that will fade away. Either way, it's not about the marketing, it's about the quality
-
Peanuts11, thanks for letting me know about this guy. I've friended him on facebook and will talk to him about helping out with our upcoming maths books.
-
Yeah, but in the end, it's not about the marketing power, it's about the ability to write good books.

1. You are assuming that Michael Li does not have the ability to write good books.
2. Anybody who reads 50 50 50 50 50 50 47 5.5 will know of him.
3. It worked for Derrick Ha and this guy is better then Derrick Ha. If nothing more, just pay him $1 a book to put his name on it that he co-authored or something.
-
1. No I never said that, I just said that we shouldn't be selecting him based on his study scores
2. Not really, like I said, six 50s doesn't correspond to a good book, people buy books based on the content, not on how many 50s the writer got. So if I said that I got 50s in Chemistry, Latin, French, English...etc. does that really affect the quality of my maths book, umm, not really
3. That's unethical
But yep, fully agree with enwiabe, get him on board for the future books!
-
Paul, enough flaming Mike (mchli). Went to school with him. 100% endorsed guys. He wrote a goddamned trial physics paper when he was in year 12 - I had the fortune to attempt it, and I have to say it was extremely well-written.
Mchli would be an awesome guy to be writing questions for Spesh. I guarantee it.
Oh and Peanuts, you forgot that Mike was in the Australian team for the Asia Pacific Physics Olympiad 2011 in Tel Aviv, Israel!
enwiabe - get mchli on board, now!
-
I wasn't flaming him Thushan, I was pro-"getting him on board" the whole time, I just don't think Peanuts' motivation for getting him onboard (i.e. Marketing Power) - weren't the right motivations
Believe me, I'm sure Micheal is a top guy with a beastly brain!
-
1. No I never said that, I just said that we shouldn't be selecting him based on his study scores

VCE maths is not about real maths.
If someone has 6 50s, they have succeeded time and time again at killing a vce subject.
No shit getting a 50 doesn't mean you can write a good book on a subject, but Mike is Mike. End of the day, as I have said, I don't think it's that hard to write a good study guide once you've done some uni work in your subject as Mike has. And I think more or less anyone can write a good study guide, so may as well use mchli's awesome proness as well as his absolutely amazing marketing power.
Look at Thushan, Thushan is effectively just as good as mchli, 5 50s (or however many you got, I don't really care) but there's just something perfect and different about someone who gets 50 50 50 50 50 50 5.5 47 from a marketing perspective.
He is that good in real life it is borderline freaky. If there was such a think as academic-performance enhancing drugs. I'd be certain he was on them.
-
Look now, I wasn't trying to start an argument, but just present some points which I think were worth looking at!
-
Ok... we get it... Mchli did really well... is he paying you to advertise him non-stop?
-
When you meet him in real life, you will understand.
Not one minute of his day is wasted. It's just incredible.

Maybe actually get the guy himself here, and ask him if he will do it instead of praising (and going overboard) him and his various achievements (he did have excellent results btw). Stop all the arguing. Its the quality of the text that matters guys. its the AN'ers that are going to buy it in the end. The constant debating that has been going on is pointless as anyone who sees his credentials would see what an amazing person he must be to achieve such great results.
-
We're quite aware of Michli, but what you'll notice very quickly is that all the writers of the books have been members on AN who have consistently been able to explain concepts clearly to a broad range of students through help in threads and PMs.
From a marketing perspective, yeah, there might be a marginal difference between Thushan and Michli, but in reality it's not going to convert as well.
Derrick Ha's particular success, is because he was incredibly involved with his school, an extremely effective communicator, very modest, and good at a broad variety of things. In all honesty, kids who get 99.95 easily fade away from the limelight within a few years because quite frankly a lot of them don't do much interesting with themselves (from my perspective). Derrick Ha began creating value for the VCE community the moment he left, and did so in a massive way with his lectures and notes, and Thushan has been following this quite successfully and has definitely already made very valuable contributions to the VCE Community with his questions, lectures, and forum assistance. We're more than happy to look into more candidates (as we will with Michael), but I'd ask you to see our writers as more than just marketing tools, because they're actually freaking amazing at what they're doing.

Fair enough, I concede that you know more then me about this business. I still don't see why you have any reason to doubt that Michael Li can write a fantastic book.
I agree that with most of what you say, but I just don't feel mchli is your typical 99.95er. I've asked him questions in chemistry and he just blows you away with his knowledge.
My point still stands, I just don't think it is that hard to write a good book for vce-level maths as the concepts are quite simple. So given that I think most people could write a really top-notch quality book, and mchli is one of them, you may as well have someone with massive marketing power.
I do take your point about DHa though.
I won't comment any more on the matter, I've made my point.
-
Fully agree with Taiga, it's not all about the marketing.
I agree, that Michael is an amazing guy. Talking to other Scotch kids as well, they all seem to agree that not only is he smart, but also an all round great person
Like we've all said Peanuts11, he might be good to recruit in the future, but right now, the books are essentially done anyway.
But yes, Derrick was involved in many different things after VCE and he cemented his name in as not only someone who got an amazing 99.95 and five 50s, but also as a lecturer, someone who wrote books, and as a tutor, amongst other things.

Cover's good.
As for content, if you have not done so already, get AN member 'dilks' on board.
That bloke can REALLY explain VCE English.
Even a compilation of his forum posts would be worth money imo
-
will you be selling any coming sunday at state library enwiabe?
-
Oh look, that cover sure has a sexy spine ;)
I must admit, I was quite taken with the spine of your design and demanded its inclusion in Paul's cover :P

We are investigating the legality of doing this and we might rent virtual office space for this purpose. We'll keep you guys updated.

Does that entitle me to some sort of bonus prize? :P Haha kidding, I'm glad you've decided to use part of my design in the cover!

Sure, you can have an extra 2 books (you're going to be very popular with your friends :P), especially because I probably should have asked your permission first. Thank you for being so nice about it. :)

Paul's Theorem: "Good looking covers are designed by good looking people" (2012)
Yeah, no. Just people who think they are good looking.

Sorry about that comment, I realised you guys didn't take it the right way! Sincere apologies :)
-
Don't worry Paulsterio, your comment is forever preserved in mine.
Got your back. :3

I don't think that there would be any problem with that since its a public space. Unless you are of course, dealing in illegal business ventures. I have sold stuff, privately since its a public space, but the problem is if you want to set up a table and sell stuff, I think that you need to request for the space outside, or just have a spot, like the side chair to the right of the State Library, as a place for purchase, since it would most likely inconvenience the people entering and leaving the library, unless you are going to wait by the arm rests to the left of the foyer. =D
-
hopefully this sunday , cos that'd mean i cant get my hands on some class material and have a few hours, or perhaps minutes worth of advantage over everyone else.. mwahaha ...
lol jk .

When is the chem book available for pick up? And how do I order the book for pick-up (pay at pick-up) at, say, state lib or Monash clayton? When I try to preorder it just immediately directs me to paypal with the $6 postage fee.
To add on that , i had the same inquiry he did. How do we organize a pick up.
-
They should be available the week starting the 9th for pickup (maybe earlier we'll let you know).

Yeah Paul will bring you English and Chem as soon as I get my hands on them. (other 3 as they get released)
-
will we be able to pick it up and pay in cash on the day? btw when is the pickup date?
-
You can pick up and pay on the day, we'll release the first date/location for English books soon.
We just need to know everyone buying a book BEFORE the pickup so we can process receipts.
-
In that case, should we PM you if we are going to pick up ans buy?
-
Yeah Taiga do we PM you if we are going to pay and buy on the same day?
-
Yeah probably a good idea. The book you want, name, contact number, and preferred location/availabilities.
-
Taiga, How about for the runner ups, May I have an indication of when we will be given the 5 books?, tnx..
-
You will receive them in different subjects as they come :)
Got all the A5 (or A5and a bit) English ones sitting here.

Sorry guys we have been under so much pressure getting the chem book finished. The chem books are finally being printed today and tomorrow. It's no longer in editing, it is fully finished and they will be posted out tomorrow. Runner-ups from the cover comp will be contacted tomorrow as well to organise pickups of their books.
This has been a true ordeal purely because it's been our first time ever producing books andt hese teething problems were probably to be expected. Thank you to everyone who has been so patient with us, these issues are finally over!
The one lesson I've really learnt here was this: Don't do pre-orders unless you are extremely well organised and nothing is going to go wrong.
-
Here's a sneak peek of the cover!

English and Chemistry Pickup is every weekday at Monash University Clayton after 4pm next week.

Cheers

Monash University Clayton
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3pm onwards
State Library of Victoria
Sunday 12pm (29th April)
PM with phone number, date/time/location, and which books.
-
LOL! I'm tutoring at State Library on Sundays (from 11 am to 5 pm) - come say hi after you pick up the book! If you know what I look like :P
-
So who do I ask to bulk order?
Taiga hasn't replied yet. =P
Its for 8 books by the way...
-
Unknown_one, I'll have taiga reply to you today he's organising bulk orders and pickups.
Also because the pre-order has now ended, the limited time $45 bundle price of English and Chemistry is bumped up to $50 (so you'll still save $5 by getting both books together). Individual books are still priced at $30 for chem and $25 for english.
Thank you to everyone who supported us in pre-order :)
-
Received both books today. I have to say, better than my other study guides, very useful! Thanks to those involved. Any idea if/when physics/methods/spec will be released?
-
^, I'm interested as well.
I cant seem to find a good question's book for Physics.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! More info coming on Physics before the end of the week.
-
Since Taiga isn't replying, and I would like to pickup the books on Anzac Day, I was wondering enwiabe if you could inform me if there are pickups on that day? Hopefully at State Library so I can get them on the way to watching Avengers, since I can pick up the bulk lot of 8, as it will be one of the only times I am in the city. =)
-
Cut me some slack man :P
Monash Uni on Wednesday?
-
Anyone coming to pick up books at this date please reply/PM here so I can get the right amount of books there on the day.
I'll also send my contact number for the day. Also let me know if I haven't replied to any PM's (Pretty sure I addressed all of them)
-
Sorry Taiga. Its just that Anzac Day is tommorow, and its one of the free days I am available, since I don't live near the city. =)
Are you able to meet at State Library?
I have no transport to get to Monash University at Claytom, its simply too far? Perhaps i can meet afterwards, maybe after you finish school?

1x chem book

Nah I mean outside the libraryy..
-
Hey AN, I've just seen the chem book first-hand today and it is actually AMAZING! It is by far the largest study guide I have ever seen (for any subject) and the solutions at the back are far more detailed than any practice exam company (not to mention the questions, which are unique and very well thought out at a very good standard). So if you had any doubt about spending it, throw that feeling away :P
I seriously wish I had this in yr12 haha, so get on it!

thankyou! both books are amazing
The feedback we're getting is making us really proud of what we've done. Definitely giving me the motivation to get as many done as we can this year.
Physics unfortunately will be too late for Unit 3. Instead, we're going to be producing a trial exam to sell to schools on a licensed basis. Get ready to tell your Physics teachers to buy it (using your school's budget, they have budgets for this stuff) soon. It will be very reasonably priced compared to our competition and have the same standard of super solutions that are in the chem book! It'll be out by the end of the week.

When is methods coming in?
-
When is methods coming in?
Pester Dev! :P (He's overseeing that)

The English book is so awesome, I've learnt so much from it already.
Also Chemistry is awesome, the detailed solutions are really great they are going to help me immensely since I have a poor foundation and am struggling a lot in the subject, thanks thushan and Mao for writing it.
Is the Methods book going to be just questions, because it would be good if there was some theory in it too.
-
Yep.
The two books are definitely awesome indeed.
Thanks for the pick-up today enwiabe. Extremely well done to the authors as they are so detailed in their concepts and their complexities in specifically English. =)
Was definately wondering also about specialist mathematics?
Any word on it? Its productions specifically?
It also looks like everyone is soon to also have a lot of respect because of these sales. xD
-
Yep, solid work (Y) the content looks solid
And bubblewrap!
-
Hey guys, are there Spesh ones coming? Who's writing that?
-
I'm supposed to be writing spesh but I've been so busy getting all the other books ready I haven't had a moment to myself, let alone think about writing spec. Sadly, it may have to wait until next year. We'll see. After VCE Expo we'll assess our plan of attack for semester 2 (unit 4). Would you guys buy books as late as July for Methods/Spec?
-
We're buying them 6 weeks before Chem, I think 3-4 months before Methods is ok.
-

... Good point. My brain is fried from being too active for too long :P
-
In your defence, we can kind of prioritise Unit 3 Chemistry since we don't have 4-6 exams to prepare for. But yeah, more than a few hours of mental/physical activity at a time can have serious ramifications :p
On that note, when will we see a Unit 4 Chemistry book?
-
On that note, when will we see a Unit 4 Chemistry book?
I have "inside information" about the progress, it's being made as we speak :)
-
Finished writing tests, wrote a fair few qns for the exams. Woo I'm really close to finishing!
....oh wait. Detailed solutions. FML.

Enwiabe: "... Where... where are the detailed solutions?"
Thushan: "Detailed solutions??"

I would think that if the methods/spesh books were split up, Exam 1/Exam 2 would be a more natural choice for doing that rather than by 'Unit 3' and 'Unit 4'

Definitely! If it contains both unit 3&4! :D

laseredd is on the ball, and that will in fact be the split.

That was the decided split from the start :P

All moderators are welcome to volunteer for the stall (help out, offer advice to students walking past the stall, create a good atmosphere etc.), but only people associated with the books will be allowed to process sales of the books (for obvious reasons).

Getting a variety of high-achieving students from various courses would be great for exposure. And extra Med students always sells well with certain demographics :P

I'll put out the call for volunteers on the mod board.

And write an announcement that AN is gonna showcase @ Careers Expo on AN and FB!

Am sitting in state, anyone that needs books. I'm running out but Dan will bring a few down.

LIMITED TIME OFFER: Anyone who orders the study guides while they're in pre-order status receives the following forum perks:
2) Exclusive use of the Sweet Nothings forum for a month. That's right, that's our (now archived) all-out spam board. You can use it while everyone else looks on, in complete jealousy for your flouting of spam rules (note that every other rule but spam still applies to that board)
3) If we hit 300 books sold in pre-order, I will open up Sweet Nothings again for an entire year to the whole forum (this will happen one month after the people who bought the book on pre-order get to play around in the forum, to give them a chance to enjoy their perk)
Interested to see what'll be written by those who pre-ordered :P
