(not sure if this was the right place to post this)
Just curious. I'm not sure whether I want that kind of news hitting me first thing in the morning on the 16th.
For those of you who received your ATARs this way last year, I'm curious to know how the message was actually formatted?
I'm hoping its not just something cold like 'Congratulations student 1234567B! You got an ATAR of xx.xx' :o

Yeah I'm getting a text. The website will probably crash that day & I'm not waiting for mail :P

I much prefer to be in control, rather than waiting for a message to be sent to me, so I'll be looking up my results online. Last year, I kept spamming the refresh button and I got access to my results at 6:51am (don't ask me how I remember :P) and the website didn't crash. What I did though was get my results via text the next day as a memento. :P

I got a new phone this year, so I don't exactly have the message, plus I only did one subject - Further. It tells you the Subject code (which was strange), then the Raw SS, then the 3 GA Grades (A+, A, B+, B, etc). From memory that was all that the message said for the one subject. Probably says the ATAR as well if I had 5 subjects.
Yesterday, I registered for this year as well. :)

Do they send everyone results in the mail?
Yeah, all your results including from the GAT come in the mail. The letter will arrive a day or two after results are released online/from a text though.

I would love to find out my results in the mail... so much more fun to open and a lot of scary.
But then... I don't think I have the willpower to wait that long.
Probably *going to pull an all-nighter and check my results on the website.
Does your school have your VTAC Number and password? Because I don't know mine...

Why would you do an all-nighter? They get published on the website at 7 am on December 16. Just wake up early. :P
Yeah, your school would have those details. However, your VTAC Number is just your VCAA Number. You know those Place Cards you get at Exams, its the number on there. :)

I slept in and woke up with the message on my phone last year, but I think I'll be using the website this time round :)

I think I might just sleep in and look online later. If I can't fall asleep I'll probably do the all-nigher thing too. The SMS idea sounds scary. D:
Last year I planned to just sleep in too but Herald Sun messed up and put up the scores, and I got messages at 2AM from friends saying OMG YOU GOT etc. etc... Hahaha

I'm going to be checking my scores online unless I get the text before I can get onto the website. I signed up for it though of course, only $1.10.

I haven't heard of any friends getting angry because the website crashed. Its a separate website just for Results, so they will be able to handle it. :)

Staying up on skype or gaming with friends.
Don't think I'll sleep properly.... I'll be anxious. I'll probably be much less anxious with the peace and mind knowing that I aced the exams... But I literally walked out the exams not knowing if I did good or bad.... NO IDEA WHAT TO EXPECT :(

Get your results through SMS..otherwise you might mix up one of your ss with your atar...that might give you a heart attack for 5 seconds...that's what happened to me last year

I can't remember...but the first thing I saw was my ss for spesh...I thought that was my atar..that was the hardest feeling of my life..

For the sign up thing, what the hell is pin?
Is it asking us to create a pin? or do we already have one
If you haven't registered on VTAC, then your Pin is just your Day and Month of birth
e.g. If your birthday is July 9, then you would have 0907 as the pin. However, if you have registered on VTAC (and put in your preferences), then use that Pin that you normally log onto VTAC with. :)

When you log in, there will be 2 pages. One link to view your ATAR, and the other link to view your Study Scores. :)

Your scaled study scores get shown on the "view ATAR" link. At first I thought they were raw, and because spec scales a crapload I thought VCAA had screwed up (i.e ATAR was higher than expecting, and wouldn't have got that high a spec score). I'd actually picked up the phone and started dialing before I realised ::)

From memory, I think it comes up on the results sheet in the mail. :) Gives the Raw and Scaled Scores.

Yes, you can still see both, but for your ATAR it will just say "you did not qualify for the VCE" or something like that.

I dont think so. Mine only showed grades for each GA and a raw study score.

It doesn't show scaled results for those who accelerated in a subject - you have to wait until Year 12 to find out.

Why did you stress so much about the results when you got a 50? Surely you knew it was going to be good...

My flight arrives from overseas into Sydney at 9am. Signed up for SMS, so as soon as that plane touches the ground, that phone's turning on.

It's more like you don't want to be caught off-guard (+ you never know exactly how well you did, at least for bio I think I could be sitting on anything from 35 and beyond) and you want to make sure that you get to chose when you're exposed to the results.

Have you registered on VTAC yet? Might have to do that first. I know your in Year 11, but I did that as well last year and it worked. :)

Wouldn't like the Herald Sun to publish the 40+ scores again like they did by 'accident' last year.
My friends told me my study score before I found it out myself. Damn Herald Sun. Hahaha

Through VTAC, but I don't think you can change preferences for it now. But I think your VCE Coordinator is still able to change it by phone, so may be ask him/her?

On a more serious note, i felt much less anxious having them not texted to me. It would have been hard to ignore on my phone and at the time i couldnt get rid of the "unread message" thing without actually reading it. Checking them online gave me way more control. A few of you might feel similar.

Text message = raw SS & ATAR after scaling
VCAA mail = raw SS sheet but comes with VTAC scaling sheet
Online website = both raw and scaled SS and ATAR

Exact same reason for me (but SS instead)
I want to be ready (if I ever will be) rather than be so tempted to open it and not be ready

2) Turn my my phone off and sleep to my heart's content
3) Wake up, turn my phone back on and anticipate many missed calls and text messages :P
I've signed up for kicks but have mixed feelings about it. Last year I signed up but forgot, so at 7.10am in the morning - "aw geez I hate this alarm tone, hey I got a message who is it from-- OH OKAY"
It hasn't hit me yet... maybe it will tomorrow night... 5 hours before... :P

I'm considering it, but I'm getting it via text, so it'd be awkward, 'cos my parents would have to film.
But seconding this thought, ATAR unboxing for those willing!

I'm getting it through an SMS. I am dying to know whether I got above a 25 or not. I don't have the patience to wait to view it all online, especially with my dodgy computer that barely works and will sometimes restart itself randomly, and with the website crashing like it did last year.

I just registered for the text and I am actually so much more scared now ahah! Although, the site will probably have alot of traffic leading to delays so it's good to have a backup, even though i'm not expecting the best results.

I tried apply and got the invalid PIN message.
I'm born on the 11/11/96...so my PIN should be 1111...not sure if its a glitch in the system or whatever.
Anybody had this problem?
No I never made a VTAC account or whatever, school never even mentioned a PIN.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

So you've sent the text to 19787888, with the VTAC Number without the letter (eg. 12345678) SPACE then Pin? (for you 1111)
The resulting message would simply be 12345678 1111 to the number 19787888.
If that's not a solution then I'm not sure what is haha.

Sorry didn't make myself clear, I am referring to the SMS.
Did everything as instructed on the website.
It goes through and all but I get an invalid pin message.
