Why bother posting?
^haha why not though ^.^
Because people come here to view the GAT results of others. If you havn't sat the GAT then you shouldn't be posting as it just wastes other peoples time?
Are the GAT scores similar to a study score? My teacher was telling me that the score you receive actually has nothing to do with study scores?
For instance I got 50 for written communication. But what does that actually MEAN!?It means a lot! GAT is the most important exam and scoring high means great future. I am very proud of your achievement :)
Why bother posting?
what is a GAT?Information about it here http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/pages/vce/exams/gat/index.aspx It's a standardised test in June with two writing tasks and a stack of multiple choice questions on general knowledge stuff. You don't need to do extra study for it, just to rock up and do the exam. Everyone that does a 3/4 subject needs to take it.

so if I'm doing two 3-4 subjects next year, i have to take it?Yes
I also heard something like it can contribute to your ATAR, is this true? From the VCAA website:
The VCAA will use students’ GAT scores as a basis for:The GAT is mainly used if you can't do an exam because you're extremely sick or injured etc. to derive an exam score for your SS. Other than that, it doesn't really do much. It can ONLY approve your ATAR but it would be marginally.
contributing to statistical moderation of school-based assessment results
checking the accuracy of examination marking
calculating the Derived Examination Scores.
written communication: 45
mathematics/science/technology: 45
humanities/arts/social sciences: 50
and I had a cold on the day too.
ended up with a 88.95 atar, sigh. Not sure whether to feel depressed or take it as an indication of a hopeful future.
Take the GAT results as complete BS when it comes to picking careers. Do what you enjoy unreluctingly and laugh at how wrong that GAT is at predicting your abilities-because I am close to certain it is.
hey i see you completed economy! What is an economy cause I'm having trouble relating to in business, like how can the economy get affected etc.
so if the 'GAT' doesn't contribute to your ATAR score, why do it?
It is used to help make a DES if you need. Helps break ties for premiers awards. Used to double check exam marking.
I doubt anyone likes the GAT and personally I think there are far better options than the GAT but the fact is 3/4 students are meant to sit it and for 3 hour of a year it can only help you so you might as well try your best.
can someone that gets a 90 star, also get a low GAT score, and is this okay if this happens?
Written communication - 39Yeah don't worry, my GAT marks were way off my actual study scores, they did not correlate in the least. All I can say is thank God I didn't continue with math!
Mathematics/Science/Technology - 39
Humanities/Arts/Social sciences - 29
On a serious note, I never got a letter with my GAT scores? How do I find them out?
So the GAT is basically like the NAPLAN test?
