I'm currently undertaking Unit 3/4 Biology as a Year 11 in a Selective school. Obviously, our SACs would be a bit more difficult than the average school. I don't want to turn this into a blog of sorts, but I got a 41/50 for my Unit 3 coursework (probably 20-25/100 in our cohort). Considering our SACs are typically more challenging (by the teachers own admission), and assuming that our cohort does well on our exams, what would you expect this to scale up to?
Further, what are your experiences with cohort and SAC scaling?

Hi Frank, firstly they are really good results, keep up the good work :). Since you go to a selec-entry school, most likely your SACs will scale up.
I also did bio last year, didn't do that well in the SACS but did pretty good in the exam.
Here are my SAC scores:
GA 1: 75/100 --> scaled to 90/100
GA 2: 77/100 --> Scaled to 92/93?? can't remember out of 100.
My cohort was pretty strong, and some of our SACS were painfully difficult and long.
Hope that helps

Hi! I went didn't go to a selective school, but be received SACs that were quite difficult as well. I wouldn't worry about your SAC marks much, because ultimately, it is the exam that will influence your final score. I remember for one of my SACs I did so badly (15/25), and for a couple of other SACS I didn't get an A+. But since my cohort was smart, and I did well on the exam, I still got a good score at the end. I don't know if I answered your qs, I kinda just rambled... But what I'm trying to say is don't let your SAC marks put you down and don't worry about them too much... just work hard for the exam.

Thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated.
Re: Rod
So because I got 41/50, that means my GA1 score is about 80-82/100? Providing we (and I do) do well on the exam, that should scale up to about 93/94 right?
Re: MJ
I can attest to the difficulty's of SACs. I got 56% for the first one (14/25) and I was in shock, since then I've gotten straight A's though. What SS did you get? (If you don't mind me asking)

Hi!
I totally understand how you feel. When I got my bad scores, I was in tears. I got a study score of 46. So It turned out ok, I suppose.

I think so. Just remember that different SACS contribute differently to your SS. So one could be work 30% of your unit 3 GA, the other 20%. A lot of bio SACS are also split.
Your SACS could scale up more than mine, less, or even stay the same. You never know, some subjects at my school scaled up heaps (like bio), while others scaled up by a little bit (1 or 2 marks). You can never really tell, just concentrate on you work, and worry about this later in December.
Keep up the great work! Unit 4 is really interesting and fun :D.
