For the evidence do i just type a paragraph of how im first child to go to uni in my fam and then how its annoying and then they will consider it? xoxo guys
Depends on the category you're applying for. You'll have to be a bit more convincing than that :P
Some more info for you to look at: http://www.vtac.edu.au/who/seas.html
So i wanna go overseas for holidays
my career teacher said some unis u can apply online sum u needa be in person
anyone know if monash courses i can apply online? like arts and science?
xoxo
You apply for them through VTAC.thats okay aaron thx so much ur better than those arrogant so called coordinators at my school theyre useless af
By the way, there is a thread here dedicated to course preferences and so on :) I've merged your topics with this one so we can keep the board clean :)
Which uni courses generally require interview?Hey, the one I definitely know for sure about is medicine
Like medicine? Am I right?
N it would say at the course info webpage on the uni website if interview is required or not right??! Like if i go to the arts webpage n if the additional requirement doesnt indicate interview then there isnt one needed right? xoxo
Which uni courses generally require interview? There are plenty of different degrees that require an interview. Undergraduate medicine typically requires an interview (most notably, Monash), but other degrees such as Physiotherapy (Monash) and even Bachelor of Science Advanced - Global Challenges (again, Monash) also require interviews.

Hi if i wanna apply for SEAS first to attend uni in fam, what category would it be? N when it says first in fam does it mean my parents never went to uni n im the first one to go? or does it mean the first child in the fam to go to uni?? XOXO
It's under category 1 SONE :) Feel free to have a look at this link, that tells you what unis take these things into account (and more importantly, which ones don't):
http://www.vtac.edu.au/who/seas/categories.html
Judging by this, only Fed Uni will take 'first in family' into consideration as part of SEAS.
Great to hear you'll be the first one to attend (I too was the first in my family to go to university!)
my dad went to uni like ages ago so am i still counted for being first in fam to attend uni? xoxo
Hi! I hope I'm posting this in the right place
I'm in my first year of a bachelors degree and am wanting to do a different bachelor course at a different uni. I called the uni im interested in and they told me that once my current uni gives me my yearly results at the end of the year, I need to submit transcripts to VTAC. Will VTAC accept my transcripts so late into the year? Also, do I need to submit transcripts of my current results of the first semester during the application process?
One last question: I meet the prerequisites for the course Im interested in based on my VCE science unit results completed last year and University English results from this year. Does VTAC send both my uni results and my VCE results to the prospective uni? thanks
Prerequisites are non negotiable. If you don't meet them, you won't get an offer for THAT particular course.Just adding on to Aaron's statement here, you can also choose to do a bridging course or do an internal transfer (do a semester in another course at the same institution, get a good enough WAM/ GPA and apply for transfer).
You could do the same course somewhere else and transfer over after one semester.. If you really had to.
When you register for a VTAC account, you have to enter in past history such as your old school, VCAA student number, current uni details and so on. You authorise VTAC to access and send these details to unis you put in your preference list. I am fairly sure they only take into account uni results unless an ATAR/other details are requested, but they do all that work for you (provided you put in the correct details so they can find it).
You personally won't need to submit transcripts unless VTAC asks for them. I know when I finished my bachelor degree and applied for a masters at a different uni, I didn't need to provide them with any transcripts or anything like that - I just gave them my uni details (student number, institution name, campus).

If I do a bridging course, does that mean I will be doing a different course then transfer into the one I want?
Thank you :)
hey guys- so im rechecking my Vtac to see if im missing anything, and im kinda confused. The Monash Guarantee is not done through VTAC, Monash itself decides it based on the information you submit through VTAC. So you won't know through VTAC if you are eligible. Monash do send an email about about it though. I remember I got mine about a week before results day, so like the 8th of December, confirming I was eligible for it. If your SEAS application was similar to mine (which it seems based on what you wrote above) you should be fine. If I do remember, I think you have to submit a VTAC Scholarship application as well along with SEAS.
basically, ive submitted a SEAS application, and filed under each respective category that pertains to me- but does this mean i qualify for things like the Monash Guarantee? like i come from an under-represented school, receive financial support from the government etc. and basically meet all the requirements for the Monash Guarantee- but is there a way of knowing if ive been accepted, or is it something i'll find out after course confirmations are out? :) thanks!
not sure where to post this:
say you get into your second preference course, and you dont meet the prerequisite for your first preference (say a 25SS in methods)
what is the way you can transfer into the first preference course without meeting the prerequisite? like in terms of transferring? are they those 'bridging courses' people talk about?
eg. you get into RMIT InfoTech, which you meet all the prerq's, but you want to get into Monash Commerce, which needs a 25 in methods/chem, which you may not have- how do you get in? is this process available for midyear transfers/
[sorry if i have been unclear- thanks guys!!]
There's really a few options:hmm i see. thanks for the help.
1. Go to another uni with all the pre-reqs you can cover* and transfer. (Bear in mind, it's best if you want to graduate faster that you try to stick to the general area you're intending to transfer into, e.g. do Zoology at Deakin to transfer into Science at Monash. Sometimes the units you do at another uni can actually be credited at your intended uni and essentially won't need to do certain units when you're finally in your first preference course.)
2. Do another course with similar areas of interest at your intended uni and do an internal transfer (i.e. transfer within same uni).
3. Do the appropriate bridging course at the intended uni and then transfer into the course after some time.
Please note that you should check whether all these options are available for your intended course/ area. As for midyear transfers for first years, your intended institution will look at your uni grades (GPA and WAM) and ATAR where need be. (They will combine both as factors of consideration.)
Definitely don't take these as the final word, as things are constantly changing and alternate pathways are always appearing/ disappearing. This is just a general overview of the 3 main pathways.
* I have friends which have done this who've failed to meet the pre-reqs in Year 12 and made up for it by doing their studies elsewhere and transferring in.
hmm i see. thanks for the help.
so lets say i want to do InfoTech at monash, and cover the prereqs, but then want to do a double degree in fiance/InfoTech, but dont have the methods pre-req for it, id have to do a bridging course? or because i got into InfoTech i can do a straight transfer? etc.
You would need to do the equivalent unit of methods at university level to satisfy the prerequisite (fairly sure its MTH1010, someone can confirm). Does the IT degree allow you to choose an elective/free unit? If so, that would be ideal.yeah i think the IT degree has an elective/free unit. but in case it didnt, what would my options be? would i be able to do it on a uni break (the methods prereq-thanks!

similarly, what if i didn't get a 25 for english? what would happen then?
so preferences are due tomorrow, and i've filed a SEAS application - and it keeps asking for evidence to be photocopied/uploaded, but the only thing that potentially might need evidence would be my parents receiving centrelink benefits, which i've given the CRN for the centrelink thingo [dont know it wel..xD] and given permission for VTAC to confirm it through centrelink etc.
anything else i may potentially need? :O
If your parents are the ones receiving the benefits, you can't give the CRN. You have to actually submit a centrelink letter because they can't confirm it otherwise; something about how you need to be the one receiving the benefit for them to be able to confirm it through centrelink. The SEAS deadline is coming up too so you may want to get on that ASAP.what if im the one receiving benefits as well? and yeah i have, but im still really unsure how to provide evidence for the SEAS and scholarships? i'll double check- thanks :)
Have you submitted a scholarship application? + Have you checked if you're eligible for any of the other SEAS categories?
what if im the one receiving benefits as well? and yeah i have, but im still really unsure how to provide evidence for the SEAS and scholarships? i'll double check- thanks :)
When do we know if our SEAS application is successful?
Will we know if our scholarship application is successful?
Also do we get notification if our access monash application is successful ?
Thanks :)
Applications will be assesed in full after 30 October 2016. If you are successful in moving on to the next stage of the selection process you will be notified via email by 11 November 2016.
Selection interviews will be held from 15 - 25 November 2016.
If you are a new applicant you must be available for an interview during this period.
I'd assume you'd know if your scholarship application is successful when you get a scholarship?
