This seemed to cause quite a debate at my school. Personally, I started off by saying 'the writer', but I was getting too repetitive, so eventually I just reffered to Voxi as 'she' lol :P
How about everyone else?
-
as it wasnt specified i used Voxi a few time along with the writer and the author for variation but most of the time i didnt need to even use a term to describe Voxi because i varied my structure
-
Haha, I used 'he' because it has only has two letters and 'it' sounded too mean :P
-
By "it" do you mean "Voxi"?
-
I just used "the writer" mostly as It didn't clearly state who the author was.
-
'The author'
I think Voxi was just a part of the website.
-
It didn't state if Voxi was male or female, so I am not sure how one would come to some solid conclusion of which one it would have been.
-
It didn't even state if Voxi was the writer of the piece or not.
Do not make assumptions.
-
yes it did... at the end it said Voxi so therefore is that no someone signing off at the end of their piece of writting?
-
i used Voxi because they also put that at the end of the piece
-
I was taught that if does not explicitly state the author's name, you call them the 'writer' or the 'author'.
As you can see, there is mass confusion so I believe that it was not explicitly stated.
I think the examiners will be lenient (I mean, what kind of name is Voxi?).
-
I think it's a pretty clear assumption to make that Voxi (an online alias) was the author of the article.
-

+1
i knew i was not correct but cbf'd
-
good question! i actually said "Voxi" most times, otherwise it was he. Hope he wasn't actually a she....awkward....
-
it doesnt matter which one you put as long as you were constant through out the analysis on using the same one right?
-
i dont no how you could say it was a he or a she because it didnt say... thats probably one big thing examiners will harp on this year instead of the analysis of the visual image it will be the fact people assumed that Voxi was male or female...

-
I used a maxture of "the writer," "the author" and "Voxi."
-
"The writer" and when referring to Voxi's arguments/contention "his or her"

This is what I did.
I assumed the author was male though because females don't know how to use the internet.
Someone discovered the author's blog where the article originated from and he is in fact a male.

i'm sorry but the gender of the writer has no influence on your writing at all, i highly doubt they will take off marks for something so trivial
-
hoe can you find the place where the article originated? it is made up from by the VCAA in order to create a fair advantage for all so people didnt analyse the same articles before the exam so thats a load of crap... No the gender may not have an impact but it may when determining between a 9 and a 10... shows a bit about your understanding of the text does it not? whether you could understand that it was not in fact specified as to whether Voxi was male or female
-
Did anyone laugh at the article when they saw superhomosapiens, sounded so much like supersiayan that I had goku powering up to super saiyan in my mind which suked coz it takes him like a couple of hours to fukn power up.
-
I went "the author", "Voxi" and "he"
...at least I'm hoping I didn't accidentally use "she" as well
:-\
-
do we get penalised for not using the authors name?!

Wait I remember it was homosupersapian, lol even closer to supersaiyan.
-
I used "the writer". Did anyone think of using "s/he" or "him/her" as in including the forward slash as well?
