POLL: Language Analysis: Voxi?
« on: October 30, 2009, 04:59:26 pm »
This seemed to cause quite a debate at my school. Personally, I started off by saying 'the writer', but I was getting too repetitive, so eventually I just reffered to Voxi as 'she' lol  :P

How about everyone else?

as it wasnt specified i used Voxi a few time along with the writer and the author for variation but most of the time i didnt need to even use a term to describe Voxi because i varied my structure

By "it" do you mean "Voxi"?

I just used "the writer" mostly as It didn't clearly state who the author was.

'The author'

I think Voxi was just a part of the website.

It didn't state if Voxi was male or female, so I am not sure how one would come to some solid conclusion of which one it would have been.

It didn't even state if Voxi was the writer of the piece or not.

Do not make assumptions.

I was taught that if does not explicitly state the author's name, you call them the 'writer' or the 'author'.

As you can see, there is mass confusion so I believe that it was not explicitly stated.

I think the examiners will be lenient (I mean, what kind of name is Voxi?).

I think it's a pretty clear assumption to make that Voxi (an online alias) was the author of the article.

it doesnt matter which one you put as long as you were constant through out the analysis on using the same one right?
