Hi There,
Find the derivative of f(x)=xe^(-x) and hence find the integral of xe^(-x).
Thanks

 = -xe^{-x} + e^{-x} )
Integrate both sides:
 = -\int xe^{-x} dx + \int e^{-x} dx )
As

although its not part of the question, i suggest you have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integration_by_parts - very easy to understand and easily approachable by methods students who understand the product rule, this can enhance your understanding of why "antidiff by recognition" works, rather than mindlessly applying it.

Check here. There's a bit of a learning curve to it though, but it's worth learning if you're expecting to post lots of questions on the maths board.

Also, http://vcenotes.com/viki/index.php/Help:LaTeX is quite good for a comprehensive list of codes :)

It doesn't actually take too long :)
I learnt the basics over a week or so, and have been refining it ever since :)

LaTeX can be used with programs for creating documents like tests etc. :)

Hehe, I still fail at making cases and matrices... ;D

for both, seriously, latex is a great skill to have, it is the standard program to type up science documents and also in uni the very first project we had, we had to type up our work, for those that already knew how to use latex, it was a breeze.
personally, ive typed up every single uni maths assignment with latex (using texnic centre), looks pr0 and easy to use.

Every assignment I had handed in this year was "Nice use of LaTeX". Not even kidding.
Texnic Centre is the bomb. It's so pro for writing up lab reports or technincal rubbish because its so flexible(like your mum)

-
ye texnic centre
-
hmmmmm, ok, you know where you get that program?

cheers :)
-
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX for a nice introduction
-
yes, you need to also get mictex (i think thats the name?) as a plugin before using texnic centre.
-
thanks TT and Co. great article. will get onto the latex! :)

Or if you lazy like me and don't want to learn all the coding used in Latex, you can always just write it up on here:
http://latex.codecogs.com/editor.php
Then its just a matter of Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V

Most academic journals want their papers submitted in a readable format and
is the "industry standard". So its a good thing to know if you plan on going into scientific research and everyone knows the more papers you publish the bigger your e-penis is.
