Title: the 10 mark question!!!!
Post by: mumakai on October 11, 2010, 08:56:50 pm
With the new study design comes the dreaded 10 mark question.

From what i can gather it will be either on Kotter change management theory (sample exam question) or ethics and socially responsible management. (does anyone know anything else it could be on?!?!)

Only thing is that Kotter change management is so easy to do for the 10 marker but i cant get my head around structuring the ethics and socially responsible management? can someone please help  :)

regards mumakai

Or it could be compare/contrast motivational theories

Or it could be compare/contrast motivational theories

It's been confirmed in an email that our school got from the busman examiners that the 10 mark Q is indeed Kotter.

How/Why would they tell anyone before the exam? There is really nothing that can be changed with Kotters, so it would be an easy 10 marks for anyone who practices how to write it...

Beats me why they'd tell us before the exam as well. Hope those evil people aren't trying to mislead us....

Surely it would have to be on kotters change mgt. Nothing else could be that long i reckon. One mark for each step  + 2 more marks. Maybe Ethics? or what else?

they didnt say it was DEFINITELY Kotter, they said it was DEFINITELY on change management.. that's it

Kotter's theory is 8 steps, apply it to a case study or an organisation you are familiar with nd i guess that adds the otehr 2 marks.

EASY MARKS WOO!

they said its definitely in the last AOS which means it could be Kotter or ethics so they actually havn't narrowed it down at all....

but if you were to take an educated guess, it would most likely be on kotter (90% chance i think)

kotter is 8 steps and thus that is close to 10 marks.
ethics and all that jazz wouldnt be worth 10 marks, what would they ask you? name 10 ethical and social responsible practices ?
i doubt it

although i obviously could be wrong

ok the consensus is that the 10 mark question if there is one will be on kotters theory.
Do you believe that we will have to make our own example eg using an outside example such as ANZ's relocation or use a case study provided in the exam? thanks

I'd say be prepared for both, though it is more likely that it would probably be a case study.

A good example is the recent (this year) privatisation of Q&R national from a government department (queensland gvt) to a public company

Corporate social responsibility  - BP oil spill recovery process

yeah CSR is a change issue and it has been identified by the VCTA that the BP recovery process is acceptable (because they went further than cleaning up)
