Worth trying. Are you a SEAS applicant? If so, I'd definitely put it in your preferences. No harm in doing that.

If I recall your current preferences is only 9 long? Chuck it in :P

Also I think in your post you are mixing up two degrees:
Bachelor of Arts     Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland, South Africa, off-campus
Bachelor of Arts (Criminal Justice)     Gippsland, off-campus

I don't have brilliant memory  :-[

Firstly I know nothing about arts so I am not sure what the benefits/disadvanages of the arts courses that are followed by a bracket. I am purely answering the technical side.

You have a course, Bachelor of Arts, where you can undertake a whole lot of things as seen here http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/courses/0002.html which would be the one that needs ~85 at clayton. It is very open in its requirements

You also have a different course called Bachelor of Arts (Criminal Justice) which must be your 75 one where you are specifically required to do these things http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/courses/3914.html

http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/undergrad/arts-ug-areas-of-study.html This has all the arts areas of studies listed on it. Criminal justice can only be studied at gippsland campus. There may be some cross campus thing available but I don't know

Hmm arts is confusing, ask an arts student :P. Science is easy, it's pretty much clayton or nothing haha :D

Oh and for question 1: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/aos/arts-ug-study-chinese-studs.html -> you can minor in chinese studies. (as a general rule, it'll be areas of study that are only offered as a minor, not only offered as a major)

I really don't get what you are trying to say here. You need to get in first...

question 3:

You may, cross your fingers.

Also I hope you are aware where the Gippsland campus is.

I am leaning towards no, based on the fact chinese can *only* be studied at clayton as per the undergrad handbook (essentially our bible), there is no off campus option and you wouldn't be able to physically travel between both campuses several times a week :P
Whether it is impossible or not I am unsure on. You could call them tomorrow morning if you like :)

Monash may or may not let you (I dunno this, i will ask caramel). But you have to get yourself to Gippsland when you are doing Criminal Justice and to Clayton for Chinese to be able to study it. Now Gippsand is at least 160 kms away from Melbourne. That's pretty far, and you would have to drive yourself (there's no bus service like there is for Caulfield and Clayton)

Yes you can study Chinese at Clayton even if you are based at Gippsland or whatever, if you don't mind travelling (there are free shuttle buses I believe). I have a friend this year who went to Caulfield every week to take her Journalism lectures, because they're not offered at Clayton.

Look at Glockmeister's post. Gippsland is geographically far away. There is no shuttle services to there

Okay my bad, didn't read through every post carefully. If you don't mind lots of travel, it is theoretically possible then to do a minor in Chinese (there might also be options for distance ed, call them up and ask)

According to the undergrad handbook, chinese studies is only offered at clayton and not as off campus units

I used to live in the country. :P... Then we moved to the city and I discovered the Internet. :P

But seriously Beata, I think you should go. I mean, you could always do TAFE for 1 year = Uni the next year, but then again, nothing is guaranteed, and you may end up doing something else instead.

This is your chance to do what you love (albeit in a different area) and prove that you can be an excellent asset in the legal field. Good luck...
