For anyone who did the actual exam recently and got good score for NR/MATH (AA and/or SUP). If you wouldn't mind, what were your actual scores out of 50 and 60?

VIC: Year 10 English / What English Subject Should I Pick?
« Last post by MyDay on July 20, 2022, 05:35:12 pm »
Hi there,

I'm a year 9 student, and subject selection for next year is happening at my school now. I was wondering what English subject I should pick for year 10.

Currently, mainstream English and advanced English is offered at my school.

As you can tell from the name, mainstream English is well, mainstream, and advanced English has a strict 'internal selection process' if we were to take the subject next year. The subject requires more in-depth analysis and critical thinking skills.

My average in English is 83% for this year, and I don't really enjoy English that much now. I would say that I'm more inclined towards maths and science.

But I'm willing to take Advanced English if that means that I can build up a better foundation for the subject, and I can prepare for VCE English eventually.

As I'm taking two Unit 1 and 2 subjects next year, I'm wondering if the advanced English subject will be too stressful for my studies and VCE as well.

By not taking mainstream English, will it hinder my improvement in terms of the English subject and be detrimental towards my VCE English score?

Most of my friends and classmates are planning to take Advanced English and I still don't know what English subject I should pick.

I would greatly appreciate the advice!

The VCE Journey Journal / Re: SnekiSnek's Journey Journal

So uh I got covid the first week of holidays and it has completely wiped me out, all that planning to do a bunch of schoolwork over the holidays? Yeah that did not happen. So I am still very behind on Unit 3 notes for all my subjects and I don't know when I am going to get time to catch up again.

Anyways a few more SAC results:

Chem: Didn't do that badly to be honest in comparison with everyone else and the errors were just silly little mistakes so I feel like I understand the content reasonably well

Physics: 19/22 on the SAC!!!! This has been the best result I have gotten for physics all year and I did a lot better than the next person so feeling pretty great about it right now

Literature: No result yet

Classical Studies: Got another decent score and about on par with what I expected

A lot of stuff went down on the last week of school that really affected my motivation and mental health, so the Lit sac probably wasn't that great, but I am slowly recovering

VCE Extended Investigation / EI topics question
« Last post by Bubblesxgrapes-_+ on July 20, 2022, 01:02:56 pm »
Can the research topic be something on animals or is it not that kind of research? A lot of the examples I've seen are a lot more social, or about humans. Can you do something perhaps on different factors affecting mealworm maturation, aspects of awareness in rats or the behavior of a certain animal? However this also brings a lot of ethical things up and I'm not sure how that would be managed.
Thanks :)
