Xbox 360 Help: Upgraded firmware to latest, but now unable to watch .avi movies

Practically i have downloaded the latest firmware from the start. I can't watch movies from my portable hard drive now, which apparently a previous firmware (older than the firmware I have now) can do. Can anyone help? how can i downgrade

Possibly try to convert the files to a different format, or copy them onto your 360 Hard Drive, instead of off the external.  I doubt you will be able to downgrade the firmware.

lol you got me there crappy, got my xbox for free though so might as well use it

I think with the recent firmware update, Microsoft disallowed all third party storage devices. I'm not sure if your external hard drive is allowed as I haven't connected one myself, but I know that those small, third party, memory cards aren't compatible with the Xbox 360 anymore.

That is stupid.  How the hell are people supposed to transfer their music/movies over to their XBOX360?
Surely they can't expect it to be over wireless.
