Internet wont connect

I got a new netbook and for some reason when i put the network cable in, it wont connect to the internet but my main laptop will.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks

For starters, does your laptop connect to the network???
If it does, does your internet require a proxy server, or other such settings?

My main laptop connects to the network. How do i know if it requires a proxy server?

Hmmm...
Maybe check the settings on the main laptop, and check to make sure they are the same on the other one.
