Do you think the issue of Google search engine leaving China as China being at fault for blocking information, or Google wrong to decide to leave since they dont like China's rules anymore?

What do you guys think about this issue?  :P

Before google.cn had even been founded .com had been censored by the government. Google didn't like the censorship in the first place they created google.cn to try and give the Chinese people more access to information and went along with the Chinese Government's censorship rules to do this.

Google only uncensored their results when it became apparent that hackers had been trying to infiltrate google(particularly the emails of human rights activists) and a number of other companies.

I think Google did the right thing uncensoring their search results and eventually leaving China. A company like Google who wants to make information available to everyone has no place in a country who doesn't want to make certain information available.

That's true, so currently, is there proof that China government hacked Google besides the fact that they located that it was form China?

And do you think this is still a current issue?

i lived in china for 4 years as a foreigner. they have a bulding at qinghua uni which employs 4000 people at least to vet all the emails going into and out of china. they block all websites that mention words such as falungong, the bible, freedom, etc. and they track you down and ask you what you were doing if you even try to find these types of websites. they also block youtube and facebook.

and if the government vetting isn't enough, the buildings where you live often also have filters. i lived on a uni campus (my parents taught there) and we couldn't access half the thiings we could get at a normal chinese internet cafe.

so yes, its still a massive issue, but there are alwasy ways around it.
2009: chinese SL(43-->50), methods CAS(not as good as chinese)

2010: english(41), methods CAS(40-->45), specialist(32-->39), biology(43-->44), chemistry(38-->42).

2011: Biomedical science and peace and conflict studies

Yeah, I was planning to do this for my English oral this year. It's been on the Australian papers less than a month ago, but wasn't sure it was an on going matter :\

Thanks heaps !

I've dcided that google leaving china is no longer the issue, but rather the problem of China's 'great fire wall'

You guys gave me a break through LOL :P thanks (:

(Interesting that China wants everything blocked, but mainland still has access through google.com.hk) O_O
