is the exam worth 50%?

Hey guys, just wondering if the ita exam is worth 50% of my study score. I haven't really performed in the sacs this year, but i want to dominate the exam. Sacs are around a B-B+, if i get a high a+ would i still have a chance at 39 raw? and my rank is probably in the middle of my cohort, a weak cohort i should add.

I don't know about the prediction stuff, but the exam is worth 50%.

Quote from: VCAA - IT Apps Study Design Document (Page 11)
Percentage contributions to the study score in VCE Information Technology are
as follows:
• Unit 3 School-assessed Coursework: 25 per cent
• Unit 4 School-assessed Coursework: 25 per cent
• End-of-year examination: 50 per cent

Hhaha knew it'd be you

If you ace the exam, do the sacs get moderated?

Apparently you're only safe from moderation if you're rank 1 - idk if this is true.

I'm too lazy to read it, but Section 12 of the admin handbook thing details how study score calculation and moderation works. Might be relevant to your question.

If you ace an IT exam, you will have an ownage study score, far more than any other subject.
this is because to get 47-50 in IT, (assuming rank 1 SACs) you only need around 77-80/90 on the exam.
if you ace the exam, and have bad SACs, you will still get high.
i got A A A+ last year for my 39
the A+ wasn't high, probably medium/nearly high, and the SACs scaled from a B or B+ (cant remember)
so 39 should be very possible if you pull off a high A+

I really hope it's true for this year. Not that I aim to lose that many marks though.

This VCAA page explains the moderation stuff better: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/exams/statisticalmoderation/statmod.html

"How does statistical moderation work?" has a clear explanation.

It states that the third step of moderation is:
Quote
- the highest* moderated score is made equal to the highest external score
- the median* and quartiles* of the moderated scores are made equal to the median and quartiles of the external scores.

So if you get the highest exam score in your cohort, then you'd end up with the highest moderated sac score? I think that is what it's saying.

not exactly
what they are saying is, if you are ranked 1 in SACs, with 100/100
and however yet, the highest exam score in your cohort is 70% (even if it is not yours), then your SACs go to 70% (because u are rank 1, so u receive the highest exam score as your sac score)
because i was rank 3 or 4, it means that in my case, the third/fourth highest exam score was equivalent to an A, so i got an A for my SACs
