Q9 Which of the following items of expenditure would be included in the ABS calculation of Private Incestment Expenditure

Anwer: The purchase of a French made aircraft carrier by Qantas.

^^ Does 'I' as a part of AD include capital expenditure on overseas capital?

AND, according to the answers, an increase in the Australia's terms of trade is UNLIKELY to be caused by an increase in the value of the Australian dollar... Is this true? Or should it be the increase of the TOT increases the $A instead?

I remember these questions. I was unsure of whether the aircraft carrier (and why the fuck would QANTAS need an aircraft carrier? Are they planning on establishing an expeditionary blue water navy?) would be either in imports or private investment, but given the other options, it was clearly the correct answer.

Yeah, I choose that answer based on the process of elimination, but it puzzled me... Does anybody else know whether private investment in capital overseas contributes to domestic AD?

Do you remember question 10? An increase in the value of the $A is an unlikely cause for the increase in the TOT? I don't understand why o_O I thought it would because our exports would become expensive overseas and imports in Aus would be cheaper, thus increasing TOT?

OH and Q13 M/C... the forecasted budget outcome for 2010-11 was approximately 10B larger than its underlying cash deficit of 40.1B.. Answer was the rate of E growth was lower than expected. I chose: "GOV introduced a flood levy"... The flood levy was implemented in the 2011-12 budget wasn't it? >.<

A flood levy would make the deficit smaller.

Flood levy shouldn't affect the budget, its a one-off policy financed by tax. It only lasts for 1 year. July 2011 to July 2012, and the government can't use it as it is solely for the purpose of "flood." The tax itself is minuscule.
