This has probably been asked 1000's of times, but what is the required mark to get into Law at Melbourne Uni ? don't know why it isn't in the VTAC guide.

Law at Melbourne is graduate entry only, ATAR doesn't come into play.

as marc-alec, You can't get straight into law in Melbourne due to the Melbourne model, you will need to apply in the third year of your course for the JD law program, your application is judged on your LSAT score (analogous to UMAT/GRAMSAT for med kids), you uni scores and a personal statement.

However there is a guaranteed path, i'm not sure if it's applicable to your situation but if you get 99.00+ you get a guaranteed full fee place, and if you get 99.90+ you get a guaranteed CSP place

 TBH I don't think I'll get close to 99.00+

80-95 Is more of my range. An above average student, but not a genius.

You say that now but it could happen.  I never considered myself capable of being eligible for guaranteed entry, yet here we are.
I won't be doing law though :P

Aim as high as you can and anything is possible!  I am a tru b3l13v3r

There is no doubt that anything is possible with hard work :) but I'm trying to be as realistic as I can.

Just so I can make sure I understand how this works, so you can make a transition to Law after doing either 3 years of Environments or Arts ?

You can apply to law like any other graduate course, but I wouldn't call it a smooth transition.  There are many, many applicants and entry is very competitive.  You just need to prepare to study and achieve well in either of those courses, and then do well on the LSAT.  Then yes, you can do the JD or any other postgrad law anywhere else.

Have you considered applying directly for undergrad law courses (that aren't Monash) at places like LaTrobe Bundoora?  That can be a safer option if you know you want to do law, I have some friends doing undergrad Law at LaTrobe and VU and they all like it.

Yes, but it's not as simple as "do 3 years undergrad, do the JD", which is what I thought 3 years ago. It's a pretty tough course to apply for. Have a look at the LSAT sample papers to get an idea of what that test is like!

Hang on, I was under the impression that you could do any undergrad and still do JD, as long as you perform well enough in LSAT/written statement. Am I mistaken?

It is any undergrad, but I think aiming_95 just means they are interested in Arts or Environments only, for their Bachelor.

Yes, but performing well enough in the LSAT and your GPA (+written) isn't the same as just spending 3 years at uni and graduating

If you get 90+ you're better off going to Monash doing say an Arts degree, get HD's (which is a lot easier in first year Arts degree then Yr. 12 VCE) during your first year and transferring over. A lot cheaper then doing the JD too.
