Commerce Monash vs Commerce Melbourne

Finding it very hard to choose between the two.
I know i still have ages until offers, but i want to be completely clear-headed.

Here is my current situation:
Monash
Pros:
Much more convenient to get to
Many friends from HS going there
Cons:
monash clayton campus is like a geriatrics home lol

Melbourne
Pros:
Located in the city, good place to chill
Cons:
Pretty far away.. like an hour and a bit travel i guess.

Also wanted to ask
I am planning on doing commerce electives + 2 science electives - just to see which field im more interested in.
Would there be any advantage at all in choosing Bcom/bsci over just bcom ?
I also want to keep the option of being able to transfer into bcom/blaw later on (if i stay in monash)

Also, i just realised.
If I take a liking to science, and want to do postgraduate medicine or optometry, then that'll be difficult to do if i end up with monash commerce?
Because with melb commerce, i can just transfer into melb biomed, whereas the monash postgraduate medicine is in gippsland?
Thanks!

Struggling to choose between the two as well. Almost exactly the same dilemma you're facing at the moment.
I ended up choosing Commerce at Melbourne knowing that if I ever wanted to do science, I can always transfer to Melb's science whilst keeping my guaranteed place into optometry. Heard the Melb's commerce is also significantly better in terms of quality of teaching than Monash's.

You can always transfer from Melb to Monash's commerce/law if you like. I was told that there was neither an advantage nor disadvantage of studying at Melb with the intention of transferring into law at Monash.

To answer your questions:

-You need a 70%+ average (minimum, competitive may be higher) across all of your subjects to be considered for transferral into a law double degree. Read here: http://www.law.monash.edu.au/future-students/entry-monash.html

-Doing a commerce degree and then doing grad med may be slightly more difficult than doing a science/biomed degree because: it will be difficult (or impossible) to take enough health science subjects in your second year to satisfy the Melbourne MD requirements. You will also not be exposed to the themes of the GAMSAT (eg. first year biochemistry/biology subjects) doing a commerce degree and all study for the GAMSAT will have to be taken in your own time and self directed.

-Monash graduate med is in Gippsland but there are no prerequisites and so a commerce would be fine.

-Doing a BComm/BSc sounds ideal for you because you sound quite undecided as to whether you want to do grad med or end up in law. However, I think the double degree is 4 years, but you can leave at the end of 3 years with a BSc (assuming you've satisfied the requirements of the science degree). Read here: http://monash.edu/pubs/handbooks/courses/1469.html

Hope that helps

Yay 100!

just in regards to this, if i do 2 units of science, will that still not give me any exposure to the themes of the GAMSAT?

thanks for the help guys!

2 units in the first year? Or 2 units in the whole degree? Sorry don't really know the structure of the monash BComm.

Why not just do a double degree comm/sci? You can drop one after first year if you don't like it I believe.

Also, according to this http://monash.edu/pubs/handbooks/courses/0179.html you have 8 free electives that you can potentially do from science.
