Both abscisic acid and ethylene were acceptable responses as plant hormones that cause abscission in last year's exam. Not exactly sure why NOB states that abscisic acid isn't responsible for abscission though :/

We were taught that abscisic acid is an inhibitory hormone involved in seed dormancy and vernalisation (flowering), and it controls stomatal opening closure. It was once thought to be involved in leaf abscission but now it is considered to be involved in fruit and flower abscission in most plants.

i thought it did promote abscision, we were taught that it inhibits growth.

ive actually got mix notes. from unit 1+2 bio i remember being taught that he causes leaves dropping. but this year ive got noted saying :
ABSCISIC ACID – may inhibit germination of seeds, leading to seed dormancy and seasonal dormancy.   Abscisic acid may also influence the opening and closure of stomata.
