Got given a practice prac on plant hormones.
Method:
1. Place 8 corn seeds (with 2 each facing towards the 4 poles, so North, East, South, West).
2. Cover seeds with a piece of filter paper
3. Pack petri dish with moist cotton wool.
4. Put lid on the petri dish and seal it with sticky tape.
5. Stand petri dish upright attached on plasticine and near a window.
6. Let it stand for 1 week and observe.
Q1 )The question asked if the above was a controlled experiment or not.
I think that it was not a controlled experiment as there weren't any variables subject to any change. (Not too sure about this question). However, maybe the north and south placed seeds could be the controls to show the direction of growth of shoots?
Q2) What differences in growth were visible over the period of the investigation? And suggest any reasons for any differences of growth and explain how it could be altered.
The shoots all grew vertical, while the roots will grow down.
