Quick question - pvalue

Hey guys - I just have a quick question to clarify my understanding of the p value...

if p < 0.05.... would you say that... "The probability that the results are due to chance factors is 5%" OR "The probability that the results are due to chance factors is less than 5%"

Edit: Think I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about the obtained p value in which case I said they'd just give you a more specific figure to work with, but you mean the set p value right?

The p-value represents the probability level which forms the basis for deciding the likelihood of chance factors being responsible for the results obtained.

I can't exactly answer your question since i'm a bit confused on what it is you're asking.

Could also write that, the chance of the results being affected by chance was "p-value given" which is less than the p-value of 0.05 and as a result is statistically significant. If that's what you ment.
